A repertoire gap provided the impetus for a genuine new discovery: there is plenty of repertoire for the flute from the Baroque period and again since the 20th century. However, the productive Romantic era treated this instrument somewhat neglected. The Terragni/Sarasin duo wanted to remedy the situation and resorted to the tried and tested means of adaptation, which has been common in music for centuries.

Emmy-nominated composer, Miriam Cutler is passionate about scoring documentaries, among them Emmy winning, Sundance, and Oscar nominated films: ETHEL, LOST IN LA MANCHA, THIN, POSTER GIRL, KINGS POINT, GHOSTS OF ABU GHRAIB, AMERICAN PROMISE, VITO, DESERT OF FORBIDDEN ART, SCOUTS HONOR, LICENSE TO KILL, ONE LAST HUG. Her score for THE HUNTING GROUND, received the Best Documentary Score Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA). Other recent films include LOVE GILDA, RBG, DARK MONEY, FINDING KUKAN, A PLASTIC OCEAN, THE BREAST ARCHIVES and EMILY ON THE EDGE OF CHAOS. She is currently working on a documentary about the iconic American writer, Flannery O’Connor.

Handels Messiah is already very well-represented on the market with dozens of existing recordings and new productions appearing at regular intervals. Yet this is a very special version, carefully crafted, Halle Handel Edition in hand, by a Basel-based selection of fine vocal soloists and instrumentalists who have all graduated from the world-famous Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Since Harry Belafonte and Miriam Makeba had appeared together in concert frequently in the early '60s, customers spying an LP called An Evening with Belafonte/Makeba might reasonably have assumed that the record would contain a joint live performance by the two, and that might help explain why this album charted in the Top 100 despite its challenging material. To begin with, it is not a live album, but rather a studio recording. And it isn't so much a duo album, for the most part, as a joint album; Belafonte and Makeba perform together on only two tracks, "Train Song" and "Cannon." Otherwise, they split up the selections, each appearing on five.
