Riley Mulherkar has been recognized as a “smart young trumpet player” by The New York Times, praised by The Wall Street Journal as a “youngster to keep an eye on,” and is a 2020 recipient of Lincoln Center’s Emerging Artist Award for his work as “an original bandleader, composer, arranger, educator, community activist and advocate for jazz and the arts.”

Little Giant Still Life is an exhilarating new album from trumpeter and composer Dave Douglas featuring five brass players and drums. Much of this music was inspired by the American painter Stuart Davis and the music explodes with the same bright colors and excitement of Davis’ works.

Featuring tributes from 67 of Frank’s former bandmates, students, and friends across multiple generations, Kimbrough was recorded over three and a half days in New York as the musical world began reawakening in May 2021. Spellbinding songstress Julie Benko, who appeared in Broadway’s Fiddler on the Roof, the 25th Anniversary national tour of Les Misérables and the national tour of Spring Awakening, steps into the spotlight with the release of her debut album, “Introducing Julie Benko,” a diverse eleven track compilation of jazz standards and original compositions that displays her sweet and scintillating signature soprano voice. Joining Benko is co-producer, arranger, and frequent musical partner Jason Yeager on piano, Danny Weller on bass, and Jay Sawyer on drums. The album also features trumpeter Andy Warren, clarinetist Dan Levinson, trombonist Walter Harris, tenor saxophonist Andrew Mulherkar, guitarist Vinny Raniolo, violinist Jason Anick, bandoneónist JP Jofre, and cellist Alon Bisk. “Introducing Julie Benko” demonstrates that the young vocalist, composer, and producer offers many musical riches in the jazz idiom and beyond, in addition to her prowess as a Broadway performer.

Four young Seattle brass players, all relocated to New York City to study at Juilliard and the Manhattan School of Music, decided to form a quartet in late 2011. Through much experimentation they discovered a colorful collective sound that drew from American folk music, indie rock, jazz, and classical music. For the next two years they performed constantly in both cities, creating and developing a large repertoire of original compositions. In early 2013 The Westerlies were approached by their Seattle-based teacher, friend, and mentor, Wayne Horvitz, to create a record of his music.

Jazz and Latin Jazz vocalist, Lauren Henderson, paints reflective and impassioned stories with her haunting voice and enchanting compositions. Described as "somewhere between a comforting whisper and a cogent declaration" by The New York Times, Henderson's eclectic influences spread across genres producing a distinct yet versatile sound.

Oscar-nominated composer Rafq Bhatia has only deepened his status as "one of the most intriguing figures in music today who refuses to be pinned to one genre, culture or instrument" (New York Times). On Environments, Bhatia makes sculptural, meticulously crafted music that finds common ground among ecstatic avant-garde jazz. New technological integrations have allowed Bhatia to merge his last decade of development as an electroacoustic composer back into his practice as an improvising guitarist, using real-time sam piling and manipulation to express and develop multiple worlds of sound at once. Rafq has previously co-scored Marvel's Thunderbolts and the Oscar- nominated soundtrack for Everything Everywhere All AT Once with his bandmates, Son Lux.
