On November 13, 2020, Thomas Naïm's new jazz/blues trio opus, "SOUNDS OF JIMI" (Rootless Blues/L'autre Distribution) has been released. This is an important event for Thomas cause it’s an album that pays tribute to a musician that had a great impact on him, the American guitarist Jimi Hendrix. This album also benefits from special guests Hugh Coltman, Erik Truffaz, Célia Kameni and Camille Bazbaz.
Guitarist, composer and producer, Thomas Naïm began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Influenced first by Rock, he then became interested in many musical currents: Funk, Brazilian music, Reggae or electronic music and finally became passionate about Jazz.
Antonio Forcione is referred to as the Jimi Hendrix of acoustic guitar and his live energy has established him as one of the most cherished figures across the world. Touch Wood is a continuation of previous works, building an eclectic mix of Italian folk music with Brazilian, Spanish and Cuban sounds. Forcione enriches the experience by enlisting friends and musicians from across the globe. The album includes the outstanding title track, “Touch Wood,” an emotionally charged guitar workout, executed with Forcione’s effortless technique.
With the release of Statement Of Intent (Edition Records, 2011) everything seemed to be coming together for Kairos 4tet. That abum, the band's second, was critically acclaimed; the band won the 2011 MOBO Award for Best Jazz Act. Then a trapped nerve in bandleader Adam Waldmann's elbow necessitated surgery shortly after the MOBO success and the saxophonist was unable to play for some months.Fortunately, by the sound of his performance here, Waldmann's recovery is complete. Everything We Hold is the sound of a band building on those earlier successes, a beautifully-crafted work that takes the quartet's sound onward and upward.
