The First Wave Of French Punk 1977-80 11th November 2016 No shipments outside of North America Soul Jazz Records' new Punk 45 release documents the first radical underground punk bands to come out of France including Metal Urbain (the first group ever to be signed to Rough Trade Records), Marie et Les Garcons, Asphalt Jungle, through to the earliest experimental cold wave/minimal wave electronic groups such as Kas Product, Charles de Goal and A3 Dans le WC who emerged at the start of the 1980s.

Belgian pop music had its heyday during the 1980s. New groups popped up like mushrooms and stole the show every weekend in many a youth club. Supported by a radio program such as 'Vrijaf' by radio legend Gust Decoster, who also introduced the term Belpop, the popularity of Belgian music rose to previously unknown heights.
