X-Eros strips bare the spectacle of sex in cinema, peoticizing the cinematic language of the body.

Frenhofer (Michel Piccoli) is a once famous artist - still of great renown, but he has been unable to paint anything of significance for a number of years. A young artist Nicolas (David Bursztein) and his girlfriend Marianne (Emmanuelle Béart) visit the artist at his country mansion in the South of France and a certain tension develops between Frenhofer and Marianne. Frenhofer believes that she could help him complete his great unfinished masterpiece – La Belle Noiseuse. The idea causes inevitable tensions and friction between Frenhofer and his wife Liz (Jane Birkin) and between Marianne and Nicolas. Each have to ask how far they will go to allow the creation of a work of art. Will they go as far as allowing The Beautiful Troublemaker to destroy their own lives and ambitions?

Jane B. is London-born actress and recording star Jane Birkin. Agnes V. is Belgian filmmaker and "grandmother of the New Wave" Agnes Varda. Jane B. Par Agnes V is a cinematic recounting of Birkin's career, from her breakthrough appearance as one of the nude models in Blow-Up to her pinnacle as star of such films as La Femme de Ma Vie (1986). It is also the story of Birkin and Varda's close relationship, made stronger by their mutual admiration and their lifelong fascination with feminist themes.

One of the great raconteurs of stage and screen, Spalding Gray, came together with one of cinema’s boldest image-makers, Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh, for Gray’s Anatomy, a spellbinding adaptation of Gray’s 1993 monologue of the same name (cowritten with Renée Shafransky). In it, Gray, with typical sardonic relish, chronicles his arduous journey through the diagnosis and treatment of a rare and alarming ocular condition. For the monologist, this experience occasioned a meditation on illness and mortality, medicine and metaphysics; for the filmmaker, it was a chance to experiment with ways of bringing his subject’s words to brilliant, eye-opening life.

Jackie Raynal is most commonly remembered, in retrospect, as the programmer of two arthouse cinemas in Manhattan, but in the early '60s she worked her way up, rapidly, to become the youngest editor in the French film industry. Accepting a challenge issued by the patroness of Zanzibar, Raynal completed one of the seminal works of avant-garde cinema in 1966: the formalist experiment Deux Fois (or Twice Upon a Time)…..

A commissioned project, this is a highly avant-garde piece of music, theater and dance, set to an original score by the controversial Dutch composer Louis Andriessen. Four nude, powder-white dancers (representing the Gods) appear on a stage designed in the style of an 18th century anatomy theater. A woman sings a list of objects beginning with various letters of the alphabet up to "M"; the Gods then decide to create Man, assembling him from body parts listed as onscreen text. Having created Man, the Gods then give him Movement; so as to give him a reason to move, they create Music; finally, so as to have Perfect Music, they create Mozart.
