Hayley Mills and Oliver Reed star in Kingsley Amis' sophisticated sex comedy, directed by Jonathan Miller. Pretty young teacher Jenny Bunn (Hayley Mills) moves down south in the swinging sixties. Jenny's hardly had time to settle into her digs before local lothario Patrick (Oliver Reed) spots her, wines and dines her and sweeps her back to his place for a night of (in his mind) meaningless sex.

From out of a snowy, barren landscape, a man appears. He's running, though from what we do not know. The valley ahead holds a large town, modern in convenience but ancient in design. Just before reaching the town, the man (Kosmos) hears the screams of a girl (Neptun) from the other side of an icy river. Neptun's younger brother has fallen into the swift waters and drowned. Kosmos pulls the boy from the river and revives him with his mysterious, healing powers. Grateful for this heroic feat, the townspeople welcome Kosmos as an honored guest (a gesture they soon live to regret).

Valerie Kaprisky plays an innocent girl who doesn't want to be innocent. Then again, sex is not her reward. There is an unexplained mom / daughter relationship that has its moments on screen, but overall fails to really explain the struggle between the two characters. The men that these two women share is a struggle in itself. Both characters want to be loved, then again, sometimes all it is is sex that drives them both.

Laughed at when he announced the discovery of the elixer of life, a scientist Professor Expedito Vitus devotes himself to the reconstitution of a map which has been divided into eight parts. The owners of these parts are being mysteriously murdered. Thanks to this map, he ends up making the most important archaeological discovery of the century: the tomb of Runamb, the Mummy, in the sands of Egypt. Back in Brasil, the professor brings the Mummy back to life, who was actually a dangerous psychopathic murderer obsessed with the image of Nadja, the dancer who had turned him down.

Some unknown maniac is threatening a navigation company to blow up one of its luxury transatlantics, the "Britannic", now in high sea with 1200 passengers. He is asking for a £500,000 ransom, otherwise the 7 bombs aboard will explode. An experienced anti-bomb squad is sent to the "Britannic", but although all the bombs are located, a very high skill level will be necessary to dismantle them. Perhaps that task is impossible…

Living in Tiger Tail County, Mississippi, middle aged Archie Lee Meighan and nineteen year old "Baby Doll" Meighan née McCargo have been married for close to two years. Their marriage is not based on love, but each getting what they want from the other. Their marriage agreement has them consummating their marriage on her twentieth birthday, which is in three days, the act to which Baby Doll is not really looking forward. But she does taunt him and other men with her overt "baby doll" sexuality, the baby doll aspect which she fosters by sleeping in their house's nursery in a crib. Baby Doll's now deceased father allowed the marriage on the stipulation that Archie Lee provide Baby Doll financial security as displayed by the most resplendent house in the south. They currently live in a dilapidated mansion with her Aunt Rose Comfort, and although Archie Lee is making some renovations on it…

David (GUIDO CONTE), a scruffy young man, wakes up in an old, decrepit Gothic church with no memory of who he is or how he got there. His only clue is a piece of paper in his pocket with a phone number and the name Barbara on it. After arriving at Barbara’s house and indulging in some clumsy free love – "Don’t you remember how to do anything anymore?" - David spends most of the film wandering through the streets in a haze, searching for his lost identity. He observes hippies throwing a low rent Woodstock at the local park, and ends up at a party where the entertainment is a stag film featuring a Che Guevara look-alike!

Ned Racine is a seedy small town lawyer in Florida. During a searing heatwave he's picked up by married Matty Walker. A passionate affair commences but it isn't long before they realise the only thing standing in their way is Matty's rich husband Edmund. A plot hatches to kill him but will they pull it off?

Lena, aged twenty, wants to know all she can about life and reality. She collects information on everyone and everything, storing her findings in an enormous archive. She experiments with relationships, political activism, and meditation. Meanwhile, the actors, director and crew are shown in a humorous parallel plot about the making of the film and their reactions to the story and each other. Nudity, explicit sex, and controversial politics kept this film from being shown in the US while its seizure by Customs was appealed.
