The Unbookables

The Unbookables (2012)
The Unbookables is a narrative documentary about stand-up comics who have spent their careers pushing limits--on stage and off. Relegated to small venues and touring in a crappy van through the Midwest they careen between the desire to succeed and the reality that there may be nothing left to lose. Road life is far from glamorous: comics come and go and cruel pranks and hard drinking punctuate their obsidian dark comedy on stage. They succeed and fail-spectacularly. When they face being fired for going too far on stage, the conflict culminates in a showdown: compromise or double down?::Jeff Pearson Stand-up legend Doug Stanhope sends his hand-picked comedy pals on an insane stand-up comedy van trip across the Midwest. Rowdy pranks and blistering comedy sets hit a major speed bump in Kansas, when they run headlong into a club owner who tells them to clean up their acts or get out. Now, the comics must choose: will they change their acts or get fired? Get in the van with comics who are unsafe at any speed.::Jeff Pearson

Ipecac Recording | [RS] [MU]

Zu, the Roman metal/math/no-wave/free noise/punk/jazz trio, is perhaps best known in the US as a band who have had an unbelievable line-up of recording partners which includes The Stooges’ Steve Mackay, Fugazi’s Joe Lally and Guy Picciotto, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Can’s Damo Suzuki, jazz masters Ken Vandermark and Mats Gustafsson, percussionists Han Bennink and Hamid Drake, improvisationalist Eugene Chadbourne and the like-minded Nobukazu Takemura. Now making their Ipecac debut, Carboniferous follows a year of performing overseas with label owner Mike Patton and features contributions from both the aforementioned Patton and The Melvins’ King Buzzo. Further cementing the Ipecac – Zu relationship is the rumored new BigBand, this one coupling Zu and dälek.
The Italian trio of Jacopo Battaglia (drums), Massimo Pupillo (bass) and Luca T. Mai (saxophone) formed in 1999 after having worked together in local theater. Driven by a punk rock work ethic, Zu have played an astounding number of over 1,000 gigs worldwide including Europe, North America, Asia, Russia, and even Africa. The have released fourteen albums to date.

"…combining the abstractions of Sonic Youth with the out-there explorations of the best free jazz" – The Times

“Musically they’re one mind only, ever-so-slightly inconvenienced by the necessity of being spit into 3 bodies. Their post-human tightness and devious compositions have carried them across the world’s ocean, and attracted collaborators ranging from free-jazz legends to the godfathers of experimental sludge” Rock-A-Rolla

Star Wars KOTOR II
PC | English | Obsidian | 2004 | 2.46GB
Genre: Role-Playing

Last year's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic wasn't just the best role-playing game of 2003. It was one of the best things to happen to Star Wars in years. Knights of the Old Republic impressively succeeded on several counts: It delivered a memorable and open-ended story featuring lots of excellent voice acting, an entertaining strategic combat system, and a lengthy, highly replayable quest. Now all those good traits–as well as the game's few shortcomings–are back once again in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. The sequel is clearly aimed at fans of the original, since it's a very similar game whose storyline picks up not long after the first one left off. Given that The Sith Lords arrives only a year after its predecessor, it's remarkable that the game's quest is every bit as big and complex as the original's. On the other hand, some unsightly technical issues and a general feeling of déjà vu will probably prevent you from feeling as strongly about The Sith Lords as you did or still do about the first game. Nevertheless, it's hard to fault The Sith Lords for following in the footsteps of the original so faithfully.

They include papers by Ron L. Bishop on the compositional analysis of pre-Columbian pottery from the Maya region, Heather Lechtman on the materials science of material culture from the Andes, and J. Michael Elam and others on source identification and hydration dating of obsidian artifacts.
