By Swiss composer Arthur Honegger, “Jeanne d'Arc au Bûcher” (1938) is an imposing oratorio. Unlike other banal versions of the myth, the libretto is a highly original creation by French poet and playwright Paul Claudel, who perfectly dramatises the last moments of the martyr's life. Honegger highlights all the anguish and tension of Joan's interrogation and subsequent execution. Originally written for actress Ida Rubinstein, an excellent ballerina and actress who was the first to perform the part, the oratorio is written as a flashback in which Joan recalls her life, just before she dies.

A breathy-voiced chanteuse whose polished and unabashedly romantic pop songs have earned her a sizable international audience, Natasha St-Pier first rose to fame in her native Canada before developing a strong following in Europe after relocating to France. Born February 10, 1981 in Bathurst, New Brunswick, she studied piano and dance throughout childhood and made her professional stage debut at age eight.

His studies (harpsichord) with Huguette Dreyfus at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, then with Bob van Asperen at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (winning the coveted First Prize in the Seventh Bruges International Harpsichord Competition at the age of twenty-two), followed by the creation of his own ensemble, Les Talens Lyriques, in 1991, have enabled Christophe Rousset to obtain a perfect grasp of the richness and diversity of the Baroque, Classical and pre-Romantic repertoires.

For centuries, the tragic tale of the mermaid or water nymph falling in love with a human has been told around the world. On his new GENUIN album, pianist Clemens Müller interprets this story of love and death through piano works from six centuries. The oldest piece by Jan Sweelinck predates the piano itself, while the newest was completed just days before the recording. At the heart of the album is a triptych featuring three settings of the psalm “By the Waters of Babylon”: from the perspectives of three different religions, Thomaskantor Johann Sebastian Bach, Jewish piano virtuoso Charles-Valentin Alkan, and Iranian composer Shadi Kassaee each reflect on this famous hymn about longing for a lost homeland.

Covering songs released in the last five years, including re-issues, Christopher Dominique, with Crunchy founding fathers THAU, have given 25 songs a creative treatment that feels dream-like and uncannily liminal. Imagine a jam between Jan Johansson and Angelo Badalamenti on a stage with trees sprouting from its floor, flanked by a red velour curtains, performing songs by Crunchy bands from memory.

The Modulations series is a way for DiN label boss Ian Boddy to showcase his many, varied modular synth concerts and events. The first two released in 2020 & 2021 were released in digital format on the DiNDDL series as well as limited vinyl pressings in conjunction with Greek label Kinetik Records. However all live events came to a sudden end with the Covid pandemic and Boddy like the majority of musicians had to postpone any further Iive shows until this health crisis dissipated.

Composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, artist and co-founder of Los Angeles' artist collective The Echo Society, Rob Simonsen has contributed to almost a hundred film and television soundtracks in the two decades since he was first asked to provide piano solos to a movie made by high school friends.

Nicole Rieu débute au milieu des années 1960 au sein d'un groupe d'adolescents appelé « Les Spits ». En 1969, elle fait la rencontre de Lucien Morisse, directeur d'Europe 1 et des Disques AZ, rencontre qui va aussitôt sceller son destin. Celui-ci, enthousiasmé par la jeune chanteuse lors d'une audition, lui propose immédiatement un contrat discographique chez Disques AZ et dissuade ses parents de lui laisser continuer ses études. Elle enregistre son premier 45 tours avec Jean Musy. Dès 1969 avec ses propres compositions (Si les oiseaux pouvaient parler, Le soleil, Que dirais-tu ?, Un amour, etc.), elle chante à l'Olympia (Paris) en première partie de Daniel Guichard, de Joe Dassin, de Serge Lama, d'Enrico Macias et de Salvatore Adamo. Elle publie le 45 tours Espagne en 1970 avec la chanson J'aime tant en face B. Trois ans plus tard, en 1973, elle est repérée par Barclay avec qui elle signe un contrat de disque. Nicole connaît alors, dès son arrivée, un très grand succès avec la chanson Je suis, une chanson dont la musique est composée par André Georget et Jean-Pierre Mirouze et le texte est écrit par Mitzi Bravine, et qui s'avère être un énorme tube sur les ondes radiophoniques. Sa carrière populaire est alors lancée. Le compositeur Jean-Pierre Goussaud lui signe la chanson Homme en 1974, et l'année suivante, Nicole publie son premier album solo, le disque Naissance.

With “ok”, his new album and ACT debut, French trumpeter ‘daoud’ offers a quiet manifesto - a record shaped by contrast and contradiction, by collapse and the stubborn act of beginning again. Built around the idea of accepting what cannot be changed. He explains: “The whole record is built around the concept of reluctant acceptance of things that you can’t control. All right, fuck it, fine, I guess.” The album explores failure, loss, repetition, and the soft absurdity of pretending everything’s fine. Across 14 tracks, daoud weaves tragedy and humor, chaos and tenderness, melody and noise into a rich and emotionally charged soundscape.
