Oranges Are

Winner of the Whitbread Prize for best first fiction, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit is a coming-out novel from Winterson, the acclaimed author of The Passion and Sexing the Cherry. The narrator, Jeanette, cuts her teeth on the knowledge that she is one of God’s elect, but as this budding evangelical comes of age, and comes to terms with her preference for her own sex, the peculiar balance of her God-fearing household crumbles.

The Gorgeous Oranges (formerly Wala Gum) are a band from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The US synth-rock band The Gorgeous Oranges are set to release the LP Not Today Satan later this month. The latest track to surface from the album – Animals , which was released as a stand alone single (available on bandcamp) on the 14th, – slips quietly out of the speakers, only to encase the listener in a puddling blues-ballad that demands full attention. The subtle hum of keyboard laying under the gnarly-blues guitar riffs gives the track its completely absorbing demeanour with the superlative vocal and supporting harmonised voices presses an unexpected melancholia to the composition as the bass and percussion maintain the progression of Animals and deliver its palpable intensity of presence.

Oranges are highly valued for their vitamin C content. It is a primary source of vitamin C for most Americans. This wonderful fruit has more to offer
nutritionally than just this one nutrient, containing sufficient amounts of folacin, calcium, potassium, thiamin, niacin and magnesium. Most of the
consumption of oranges is in the form of juice. Eating the whole fruit provides 130% of the recommended dietary allowance for vitamin C, less
than the juice, but more fiber, which is not present in the juice.

Professor Calculus has just written a book called "The Earth is Starving". He appears on television to appeal to the scientists of the world to work towards a solution to the hunger problem. Soon afterwards, he receives a package from a Spanish professor, Antenor Zalamea, which contains a blue orange that can be grown in desert soil. Calculus travels to Spain, but a criminal emir who wants the discovery for himself kidnaps both professors. Tintin and Captain Haddock come to the rescue.

Oranges & Lemons is the 11th studio album and the second double album by the English band XTC, released 27 February 1989 on Virgin Records. It is the follow-up to 1986's Skylarking. The title (derived from the nursery rhyme of the same name) was chosen in reference to the band's poor financial standing at the time, while the music is characterised as a 1980s update of 1960s psychedelia. It received critical acclaim and became the band's highest-charting album since 1982's English Settlement, rising to number 28 in the UK and number 44 in the US. The album is primarily pop and rock, although a variety of other styles are plundered throughout, such as jazz, reggae, hard rock, Middle Eastern music and Zairean soukous. 12 of the album's 15 tracks were written by guitarist Andy Partridge, with the rest by bassist Colin Moulding.
