Origins

is a comic series published by IDW Publishing starting February 2009. It was originally intended to be a five-issue miniseries but was expanded with issue #6 to include other team members. It is penned by G.I. Joe comic legend Larry Hama--for the uninitiated, the man who basically created the G.I. Joe comics universe. The series will explore the formation of the Joe Team and the personalities that make up the team. This IDW reboot has been consistently getting top ratings from reviewers who grew up on the comic books (1982-1994). Issue #5 features Snake Eyes in action, infiltrating Chimera's underground base and coming to the aid of his fellow Joes. Judging from the rave reviews from G.I. Joe fans, making Larry Hama the permanent writer for any and all future G.I. Joe series would be the best move IDW can ever make.

The Ragin' Cajun takes a trip back to his roots this June in X-Men Origins: Gambit #1, a special one-shot from writer Mike Carey and artist David Yardin. "This is really the story of how Gambit comes within the orbit of the X-Men, which in his case happens in a number of stages spread out across several years," Carey tells of the special. For fans of Carey's work on LEGACY, the writer reveals that this special will tie in to Gambit's story in that series as well.

Initially panned by comic book critics it slowly gained acceptance and has now has found itself among the established titles of Marvel. Issue #36 is the conclusion to the "Weapon XI" story arc.
