This greatest hits compilation is part of a major reissue project of remasters overseen by Yoko Ono in 2010 to mark what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday. Includes all of Lennnon's best-loved hits, up to and including the singles from the final album released during his lifetime, "Double Fantasy". Digitally remastered and restored to John's original audio mixes.

On August 30, 1972, JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO/Plastic Ono Band with Elephant’s Memory and Special Guests headlined two historic ONE TO ONE Concerts at Madison Square Garden, New York City. These charitable benefit shows played to a combined audience of 40,000 people and helped to raise over $1.5 million to support children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They were John Lennon’s only full-length concerts after leaving The Beatles and the last two full-length concerts that John & Yoko performed together.

Blending a socially conscious spirit with hard bop, jazz-funk, and electronic elements, Power to the People finds Joe Henderson saxophonist entering a new creative dimension, as he performs such originals as “Isotope,” “Afro-Centric” and the first recording of his classic “Black Narcissus,” alongside such legends as Herbie Hancock (piano, Fender Rhodes), Ron Carter (electric and acoustic bass), Jack DeJohnette (drums), and Mike Lawrence (trumpet). Power to the People tells Lennon and Ono's journey from December 1969 through August 1972, including a remixed version of the 1972 album, Some Time in New York City, and the One to One Concerts from the same year.

John Lennon’s birthday today, October 9, is marked by the release of a new deluxe and expanded version of Imagine (The Ultimate Collection).
