Light in the Attic Records (LITA) proudly announces The Power Of The Heart: A Tribute To Lou Reed. The star-studded album celebrates the pioneering singer-songwriter’s enduring influence—as well as the timeless appeal of his songs—through performances by Reed’s closest friends and biggest fans, including Keith Richards, Rosanne Cash, Lucinda Williams, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Afghan Whigs, Bobby Rush, Maxim Ludwig & Angel Olsen, Mary Gauthier, and Automatic. Blending generation-defining hits (“I’m Waiting for the Man,” “Walk on the Wild Side,” “Perfect Day”) with lesser-known gems, the collection spans the artist’s five-decade-long career: from his earliest days with The Velvet Underground to his groundbreaking solo work.

Spirit To All is the latest record by Polish bassist and composer Wojtek Mazolewski and his famed Quintet (WMQ). Mazolewski’s distinctive voice and vision are highly lauded and widely recognized for his contribution to the resurgence in Polish jazz and improv music on a global, crossover scale.

Joe Chambers is probably best known for his drumming on Blue Note LPs from the 1960s, many of which are now considered classics. But this consummate musician is also a composer and has played on numerous other releases over the course of his lengthy career as a vibraphonist and pianist.

On Dropkick Murphys' 13th studio album, the stories run deep, the memories push hard, and the joy remains infectious. Across the album's 12 songs, the Boston band imbue the same kind of joy one might celebrate with family and friends. And even when the moods are sad and pensive, it's hard not to feel personally invested in the band's emotional spectrum.

Houston Express is the ninth album led by saxophonist Houston Person. Houston Person's the main soloist in front of bigger backings – heard here in a style that's a bit like some of the changes in funky jazz that were going on over at Kudu Records during the same time – a filling up of the background rhythms, but still with hip players overall – and plenty of room for the main soloist to do his thing! Horace Ott conducts the backings, and brings in a soulful undercurrent that almost gives a few of the sharper numbers a soundtrack feel. Titles include "The Houston Express", "Young Gifted & Black", "Give More Power To The People", "Chains of Love", and "Enjoy".
