Billy Sherwood is a busy man. The one-time Yes guitarist/keyboard player has carved out a niche coordinating a myriad of projects in recent years – some with a prog angle, others with a ‘tribute’ theme. For the second offering from the aptly-titled Prog Collective he has brought together another A-Z of prog artists and another highly agreeable listen…

The multi-national, Finland-based recording project did it again, a marvelous, superbly produced album of first class retro-natured symphonic prog composed and co- performed by excellent prog musicians from various countries including e.g. Argentine, Netherlands, Italy and Japan. 'Another Time' (written by Ronaldo Rodrigues and Steve Unruh who also sings) evolves dynamically from mellowness to energetic instrumental section and features Marek Arnold on saxophone. Oliviero Lacagnina composed a pompous symph prog instrumental 'Dear Amadeus' inspired by Mozart. One may think of 70's RPI bands such as Latte e Miele…

"Coupla Prog represents a more accessible and less obscure side of krautrock. Their music alternates conventional, melodic & energetic psych-pop songs (close to the 60s British psych scene) with "lysergic" epics under a hippie's attitude and musical aesthetic." The old legend Coupla Prog originally published this album in 1972. "Death Is A Great Gambler" is a refined, ecclectic krautrock album dominated by Hammond organs, solid guitar rythms and frantic technical drums. With a bands like Improved Sound Limited, Coupla Prog represents a more accessible and less obscure side of krautrock…

Brainchild of prog mastermind Neal Morse, this new Christmas CD is like nothing you've ever heard before! Featuring the raging talents of MIKE PORTNOY (EX-DREAM THEATER), STEVE HACKETT (EX-GENESIS), ROINE STOLT (EX-SANE PERSON), STEVE MORSE (EXIT STAGE RIGHT), PETE TREWAVAS (TRANSATLANTIC AND MARILLION….he's not an ex but we let him on the album anyway) and more! UK three CD set. One Way Glass is a very different kind of RPM compilation. Instead of the usual cross-section of '60s collectables, this unique release takes a fresh look at British music from the late '60s through to the mid-'70s, with an eye on overlooked dancefloor-friendly finds. The rhythmic backbone of One Way Glass lies in progressive rock outfits who - every so often - would emulate their jazz heroes and record funky sides tucked away on albums or B-sides. Many of these tracks (Jonesy, Hardin & York) have been known to collectors of Funky Breaks for years. In addition, One Way Glass boasts some excellent funky Folk tracks which lighten the load for the listener - tracks by Alan James Eastwood, Bridget St. John, Dana Gillespie, Joan Armatrading and Melanie, for example. More typical funk rock selections come from Hanson (featuring future Bob Marley & The Wailers mainstay Junior Marvin on guitar) and Curtis Knight Zeus (fronted by Jimi Hendrix's old bandmate and featuring future Motorhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke). Maybe it all started - in terms of breaks and hip hop culture, at least - with DJ Kool Herc, who would spin key segments from old rock records to create the funky break.

is a multi-awarded, long-running and still-ongoing weekly British science fiction-oriented comics anthology that serializes a number of separate stories each issue (called a "prog") that has been at the cutting edge of contemporary pop culture since it’s first publication by IPC Magazines in February 26, 1997. IPC, later Fleetway, continued to produce the title until 2000, when it was bought by Rebellion Developments. Due in part to its weekly publication schedule, it is one of only a few comics to surpass 1,600 issues. It is most noted for its Judge Dredd stories, and has been contributed to by a number of artists and writers who became renowned in the field internationally, such as Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Bryan Talbot, Brian Bolland, Garth Ennis and Mike McMahon.
