Der Münchner Chris Gall machte bislang eher in Jazz-Kreisen mit seinem Trio und als Gast-Musiker bei Quadro Nuevo auf sich aufmerksam. Diese dritte CD zeigt indes nun den Meister im Solo-Flug - alleine am Klavier. Das ist sicherlich ein folgerichtiger Schritt, denn hier zeigt sich Gall in seinem Metier und legt die spannendste Solo-Piano-Scheibe seit Chilly Gonzales Bemühungen dieser Art vor.

Amir is the debut album from Tamino via Communion Records. It was produced by PJ Maertens and Jo Francken, and recorded at Maertens’ house in Belgium and at Audiworkx Studios in Holland. Of Belgian, Egyptian and Lebanese heritage the 21-year-old musician has written and shaped an album of startling, visceral, sit-up-and-listen power. Amir features a handful of tracks from his debut EP, Habibi including Indigo Night which features Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood on bass guitar. Although the majority of the playing heard on Amir is Tamino himself, he is joined by a collective of Arabic musicians based in Brussels called Nagham Zikrayat.

Anne Nikitin is an award-winning Canadian composer based in the UK. From sweeping orchestral scores to dirty guitars, mesmeric synths and delicate piano refrains, Anne is known for creating unique sound worlds spanning a wide range of genres. Her debut into film came when she scored Bart Layton’s “jaw-dropping” BAFTA-winning film The Imposter. The Guardian described her work as “a classy score”, while Indiewire dubbed it “a cosmic score”.

James Lavelle co-founded the revered left-field hip-hop label Mo Wax, the U.K. home of DJ Shadow's groundbreaking Endtroducing, along with several other notable releases. Since the early '90s, Lavelle has led the long-running UNKLE, a collaborative project that has grown increasingly eclectic with each remix (including commissions from Radiohead, Massive Attack, and Robert Plant), studio album (beginning with 1998's Psyence Fiction), and film project (such as 2005's Odyssey in Rome). Although the London native was still a teenager when he and partner Tim Goldsworthy started Mo Wax, Lavelle was honing his DJ skills earlier than that, and remained in-demand on local and global scales through the mid-2010s.

Lena Hall, a singular artist who authentically and explosively brings the worlds of Rock and Broadway together, is releasing a series of EPs over the course of 2018. The Obsessed series features stripped-down vocal-intensive covers of one artist/band with whom Lena is “obsessed."

Mansun were one of the most iconic and innovative British bands of the late 90s. Having signed to the legendary record label Parlophone (home to The Beatles, Radiohead and Sigur Ros) they released four albums 'Attack of the Grey Lantern' (1997), 'Six' (1998), 'Little Kix' (2000) and the compilation 'Kleptomania' following the band's split as well as a popular and now rare series of EPs. Kscope, having now acquired this impressive catalogue, are running a thorough reissue series that delves into a treasure trove of previously unreleased audio and visual material, including the much awaited 21st-anniversary remaster of their experimental Top 10 album 'Six' (#6 UK charts).

Perseverance yields results – and sometimes produces things which just seem to get better and better…like Tonbruket (it means ‘sound factory’). The four Swedes have been making music together for 10 years now, and in their sixth album "Masters of Fog", the band has done the musical equivalent of throwing a smoke grenade. Musical genres suddenly become indistinct and blurry. Tonbruket give themselves up to the imagination, to the senses, and to the intoxication of the moment. It really doesn't fit into any category – except that it is deeply enjoyable.

A new formation with old friends, a particular sound with familiar vignettes: Other Animal plays “alternative prog-jazz”. The newest project of Bernhard and Peter Meyer, who take the key roles as composers and producers in this quartet, unites players from Berlin and New York who harmonize perfectly together and inspire each other. The Meyer brothers are best known for their highly acclaimed Melt Trio. With their distinct music and sophisticated stylistics on semi-acoustic bass and electric guitar, they have been contributing to the Berlin-specific jazz sound for years.
