Kai Hansen formed Helloween in 1984, playing guitar and singing on the speed metal band's first four albums. He left in early 1989, however, and founded Gamma Ray with vocalist Ralf Scheepers (formerly with Tyran Pace). Recorded on location at Buddy Guy's Legends in the blues capital of the world, Chi-town, this DVD captures the inexhaustible Guy leading an all-star band through an electric set of highly-charged blues classics. The Saturday Night Live Band is featured with G.E. Smith, Lenny Pickett, Johnny Johnson, and more. Recorded at legendary bluesman Buddy Guy's Chicago establishment, Buddy Guy's Legend, this release sees the Grammy-winning artist playing some of his most-loved, classic songs. Included are "Damn Right, I've Got the Blues," "My Time After Awhile," and "I've Got News for You." Also performing is the Saturday Night Live Band featuring G.E. Smith, Lenny Pickett and Johnny Johnson.

Coming off the surprise new studio album Somewhere to Elsewhere in 2000 Kansas seemed to have a bit of a resurgence in popularity, with an increased tour schedule that hasn't let up yet, and a rapid-fire series of reengineered back-catalog albums, compilations, and reissued live releases. In the summer of 2002 the band auctioned off several hundred premium tickets for this concert at Earthlink Live in Atlanta, and drummer Phil Ehart realized a long-time desire to record a full-length concert of the band in a small-venue setting.
