Cellist Aurélienne Brauner and pianist Lorène de Ratuld formed the Luperca Duo more than 10 years ago!Aurélienne and Lorène met at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris during their years of study. It was following a concert in 2011 that they decided to engage together in an in-depth partnership: the cello-piano duo.Aurélienne and Lorène perform works from German romanticism (Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Schumann), the Russian repertoire (Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Shostakovich) and especially those from French music which they are particularly fond of.Aurélienne Brauner plays a cello by Nicolas-François Vuillaume from 1859.

Mischa Maisky is an impassioned performer, a flamboyant stage presence and a genuine talent. This intimate and emotional performance of music for violoncello and piano is saturated with sensuality. French art songs provide Maisky with great fodder for his deeply personal interpretations. These compositions from the late 19th to early 20th centuries are rich with flowering lyricism. As a French impression of the traditionally German music form, they have a certain verve that launches a musician of Maisky's stature to another world.

A wonderful prog album that is difficult to categorize as it has eclectic elements throughout: symphonic, neo, jazz fusion, psychedelia, trip-hop, Ange-like theatrics, and even funk-pop influences. The band's core is a trio each coming from quite disparate musical backgrounds, all from Montréal, Québec. Very accessible and melodic.

Janina Ruh plays in the bass and sings in the soprano register – a double gift she considers as a valuable asset: playing while singing and singing while playing. In her concerts she often combines singing voice and cello and thus really delights her audience. She won the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in 2013. One year later the broadcasting corporation SWR chose her for their promotion programme SWR2 New Talent which is aimed at introducing outstanding young musicians to a broader public by means of concerts, radio programmes and studio productions. Renowned orchestras invited Janina Ruh as a soloist, among them were the MDR Symphony Orchestra, the Tapiola Sinfonietta (Finland), the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonics, the Camerata Hamburg and the SWR Symphony Orchestra. She is the solo cellist of the ensemble Metamorphosen from Berlin. This is her second release within the Label SWRmusic.

Swantje Asche-Tauscher belongs to that generation of young German violinists who win people over with their “expressive, sonorous playing”. At the age of 14, this talented artist appeared as a soloist in the Stuttgart Liederhalle. She had played at the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, performs at festivals such as the Palermo Classica Festival, and is a lecturer at Strings in Motion. For the 2019/2020 season, Swantje Asche-Tauscher held the position of principal second violinist in the Tyrol Symphony Orchestra in Innsbruck.

One thing you can't complain about Bartok's violin concertos is that they tend not to attract superficial performers. The technical difficulties alone are enough to keep many of our run-of-the-mill virtuosos at arm's length. So it's probably safe to say that Anne-Sophie Mutter's gritty and forceful rendition of Bartok's Violin Concerto No. 2 should not disappoint.

The unreleased album recorded for EMI France of Les Goths. They released only 2 rare singles for EMI: I Remember / Turn Over and Le jour etait gris / Out Of The Sun in 1968 but the band: Gino Frascone - guitar & vocals / Bruno Frascone - drums & vocals / Bernard Faucher - bass & vocals, recorded a complete 10 track album, which Shadoks now releases for the first time. Les Goths 2 singles have cult status in France. Influenced by Cream and Jimi Hendrix, the guitar parts it reminds us of Randy Holden.This French psychedelic band from Normandy is perhaps one of the best albums from that time ever recorded in France. French and English lyrics. Incredible Heavy Psych from France!
