Although glam had long slipped off the radar by 1981, that year found Suzi Quatro releasing one of her finest albums. With Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman (the producers behind her biggest hits) at the controls, Quatro and her band craft a series of songs that blend the hard rock power that fueled her glam rock era hits with a new soundscape that tarts up the songs with some ear attracting new wave hooks. The tone is set by the title track, which starts the album with a blast thanks to its effective combination chugging guitar riffs, a stomping beat, and a shout-along chorus that praises the song's tough female heroine.

Great UK underground heavy psych rock album from 1969 recorded by a trio from Lancashire. Well structured songs with fine melodies similar in places to Cream but with the odd swathe of mellotron lending an early progressive touch. Much loved by collectors of UK underground music this album is well worth checking out…Highly recommended.

The French equivalent of prog-rock bands Yes and Genesis, Atoll recorded four albums in the mid- to late '70s with a lineup that stabilized by the time of the group's second album. L'Araignee Mal (1975) included vocalist/percussionist André Balzer, guitarist Christian Beya, bassist Jean-Luc Thillot, keyboard player Michel Taillet, and drummer Alain Gozzo. Gradually commercializing its sound beginning with third album Tertio, Atoll released only one more studio album Rock Puzzle before breaking up. In the late '80s, however, a new, pop-oriented version appeared. Including only Beya from the previous lineup, the band released L'Ocean and the live album Tokyo C'est Fini (both 1989).

I’ve always loved Top 40 pop radio, I love greatest hits albums like The Who’s Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy. I remember Alan McGee saying of Higher Than The Sun: it won’t be a hit, but it will be a statement. Great singles can get out into the world and show people an alternative way of thinking. They make you feel less alone.”

What once started as a little one day festival in 1975 in Werchter Belgium in a tent, has now become very big, and lasts four days; with multiple podia. This CD is a compilation of the countless groups that since 1975 have visited the festival, although some names are missing, despite the fact that they made the festival what it is today. To name but a few of the better known names : U 2, Metallica, maybe this has to do with royalties but also bands like Midnight Oil and the long forgotten The Alarm are missing.
