Sara K. writes music that expresses emotional turbulence with the perfect balance of poetry and passion. Possessing a sweet sultry voice and a style that soars above and beyond the boundaries of genre, her newest release, tell me i'm not dreamin' touches on a myriad of styles including jazz, folk, and even the blues, and yet transcends them all.
…Sara K. was born in Texas. Today she lives in New Mexico. It is here that she finds the inner calm for writing and rehearsing new songs. Supported by Stockfisch technology, musically accompanied by renowned musicians, a singer/songwriter extraordinaire is on her way between folk and blues, between Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin. Great music and great sound: "Hell or High Water'" is both. Unfortunately, this is also the last recording together with guitarist Chris Jones who died in the autumn last year…
"…Stockfisch Records use B&W (Bowes & Wilkins) loudspeakers to monitor all of their recordings. Besides producing cover CDs for high quality audio magazines published in Germany Stockfisch Records have also produced demonstration CDs specifically for B&W. In order to promote their Nautilus range of speakers B&W sponsored a tour of Germany by Sara K, accompanied by another accomplished Stockfisch Recordings artist, guitarist Chris Jones. This video, produced in multiple sound formats, is one night of the tour."
From the time she first performed in front of an audience when she was 17 years old, singer/songwriter Sara K. knew she wanted to live her life making music. She followed her dream and stayed true to her desire, despite the fact that demand for acoustic solo performers was falling off as the end of the '70s approached. Several avenues remained open to her, including fronting her own band, studio work, and backing country music artists, which she did in her hometown of Dallas, TX.
Let’s be honest, live albums are often bland, the songs faded versions of opulent studio-productions. This one is different. The songwriter from Texas and her sideman grow together during the concert into groove-monsters. Her 4-string guitar and his steel-string/dobro drive songs like 'All Your Love (Turned to Passion)' irresistibly onward and Sara growls, squeaks and squeals with a truly high-end sound. Huge.
