Closer Than They Appear, is the synthesis of folk, blues, and jazz. Sara K. has added more fuel to the controversy: Is there a common ground between folk and jazz? Sara K. (Paired with Chesky guitarist Bruce Dunlap who serves as her musical director) takes ready advantage of not only her labels' penchant for painstaking fidelity, but she also samples an arsenal of jazz tones and musical genre's. –Chesky Records

Already regarded as a star internationally, Sara is poised to make her mark on America with her fourth Chesky release, which brims with smoky, road-worn songs about love and life. Hobo finds Sara's voice beautifully captured by Chesky's new 96/24 technology, and you'll be amazed by the range of tone and emotion that she conveys on this recording. Sara K. tells her musical war-stories with heart-cutting lyrics and tunes that you'll be singing long after the disc has stopped playing. Hobo also provides Sara with an opportunity to bring her blusey, knowing style to a number of diverse covers. "Brick House"

"The long awaited new CD from Sara K ~ this SACD contains a CD-Hybrid layer, DSD stereo sound and DSD Surround Sound. This last CD is surely one of her best, maybe it is THE best.
The album's 12 tracks are a delightful mix of folk, jazz and blues, with one song especially outstanding in its beauty, 'Made in the Shade', devoted to Sara K.'s fellow artist and kindred spirit, Chris Jones, who died in 2005."

The album's 12 tracks are a quite delightful mix, with one song especially outstanding in its beauty: 'Made in the Shade', devoted to Sara K. 's fellow artist and kindred spirit Chris Jones who died in 2005. This album is surely one of her very best, maybe THE best. It is certainly no less than sensational. Like good wine, this one has it all, that inner glow, that shining light that is the true sign of real art. Guitars, exotic instruments including the harp form an ideal backdrop for the singer Sara K. sounding articulate to the highest degree, her performance mature, completely lacking any harshness whatsoever.

From the time she first performed in front of an audience when she was 17 years old, singer/songwriter Sara K. knew she wanted to live her life making music. She followed her dream and stayed true to her desire, despite the fact that demand for acoustic solo performers was falling off as the end of the '70s approached. Several avenues remained open to her, including fronting her own band, studio work, and backing country music artists, which she did in her hometown of Dallas, TX. She also found work locally singing jingles. From her childhood years on, music played an important part in her life. Her mother belonged to a choir at church, while her father sang bass as part of a barbershop quartet. She first took up the guitar at the age of 15, although her instrument wasn't the standard one on which most youths begin. She started with a basic flamenco guitar and added four strings meant for a bass. The resulting hybrid didn't produce notes as low as those normally produced by a bass, yet they were definitely lower than those made by a guitar.

Sara K.'s "Water Falls" contains brand-new material, some of it composed in Northeim. The CD has received overwhelmingly positive critiques: "Water Falls is possibly the best album to appear on the market out of this scene in the last 2 or 3 years."
