This 14-CD collection brings together Richter's great recordings for the Eurodisc label with 10 recordings newly remastered from the original analogue tapes, many of which had been out of print for years. It includes the legendary Bach The Well-Tempered Clavier recordings as well as Beethoven s Sonatas Nos. 3 and 4 and Tchaikovsky s The Seasons.

This is set of records of violin virtuoso Jascha Heifetz, one of the best violinists ever. It was originally issued in seventies on vinyl and it is mono. As you can read in the booklet. "The selections on these compact disks were recorded before noise-reduction methods were available. In the digital remastering, effort was made to minimize the inherent noise; radical methods were not used in order to preserve the full-frequency content of the original recordings. Therefore, some noise may be experienced in reproduction on wide-range equipment".

Good News - the legal dispute over the ownership of Sviatoslav Richter's Eurodisc recordings has finally been resolved, and Sony is releasing them in a nice 14 CD box.Recorded in Salzburg, Vienna and Munich between 1970 and 1983.A joint production of the small German label Eurodisc (Ariola) and the Soviet giant Melodiya.These are among the last of Richter's studio recordings - after this, most of his commercial recordings were recorded in concert.

This lavish box set contains a whopping 68 discs, a hardcover book, and five DVDs; in short, it's Murray Perahia's entire recorded career through 2010. Although the title says "The First 40 Years," the final disc in the set is a Vox Turnabout disc of Mozart chamber music that Perahia recorded with Boris Kroyt and Harold Wright in 1967, but not released until 1976. Chamber music is not something Perahia is usually known for, nor is vocal music.
