Franz Xaver Murschhauser was born in the summer of 1663. In 1676 Murschhauser joined the choir and orchestra of St Peter’s, where he benefited first from the tuition he received from the church’s choir director Sigmund Auer and later, from 1684 to 1693, from the Court Kapellmeister Johann Kaspar Kerll, which left a lasting impression on him.

In 1676 Murschhauser joined the choir and orchestra of St Peter’s, where he benefited first from the tuition he received from the church’s choir director Sigmund Auer and later, from 1684 to 1693, from the Court Kapellmeister Johann Kaspar Kerll, which left a lasting impression on him.
In July 1690, most probably on the recommendation of his teacher Johann Kaspar Kerll, Murschhauser was asked to stand in for the choirmaster of the Munich Frauenkirche, Ludwig Hölz, who was indisposed owing to illness. After the latter’s death in 1691, Murschhauser became his successor, holding the position for the remainder of his life.

This is one of those albums were nothing goes wrong, especially if you are a fan of Elizeth Cardoso or Moacyr Silva. For those who are members of both fan clubs – such like me – this album is real treat. What can go wrong with a record that brings together the voice of one of the greatest Brazilian divas and the awesome Moacyr Silva tenor sax? I think only zecalouro can jeopardize this post, making some his unforgiving mistakes. Let’s see.a

Universal Music Recordings and Decca Records are making Jazz guitarist Amancio D’Silva’s album ‘Reflections (The Romantic Guitar Of Amancio D’Silva)’ available again for the first time since it was released in 1971, on limited edition clear vinyl.

Acclaimed flautist Lisa Friend writes: It has long been a dream of mine to record an album featuring the works of some of my favourite American composers. Having grown up in New York, I have cherished memories of watching, as a young child, my father, Rodney Friend (concertmaster), perform with the New York Philharmonic under the baton of his close friend Leonard Bernstein. I recall being in rehearsals, where my father and Bernstein would often discuss the scores during breaks – a time I wish I could relive. This album brings together a selection of American works and original arrangements that hold a special place in my heart. Dad always played Heifetz’s version of Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, hence my wanting to record it here. Bernstein’s West Side Story, and especially the theme ‘Somewhere’, has been one of my all-time favourites. I have recorded Ashokan Farewell for my brother Steven, knowing how much he loves this beautiful melody.
