Basics of Functional Analysis with Bicomplex Scalars, and Bicomplex Schur Analysis

Basics of Functional Analysis with Bicomplex Scalars, and Bicomplex Schur Analysis by Daniel Alpay
English | EPUB | 2014 | 107 Pages | ISBN : 3319051091 | 2.35 MB

This book provides the foundations for a rigorous theory of functional analysis with bicomplex scalars. It begins with a detailed study of bicomplex and hyperbolic numbers, and then defines the notion of bicomplex modules.
Complex Function Theory, Operator Theory, Schur Analysis and Systems Theory: A Volume in Honor of V.E. Katsnelson

English | PDF,EPUB | 2020 | 578 Pages | ISBN : 3030448185 | 54 MB

This book is dedicated to Victor Emmanuilovich Katsnelson on the occasion of his 75th birthday and celebrates his broad mathematical interests and contributions.Victor Emmanuilovich’s mathematical career has been based mainly at the Kharkov University and the Weizmann Institute. However, it also included a one-year guest professorship at Leipzig University in 1991, which led to him establishing close research contacts with the Schur analysis group in Leipzig, a collaboration that still continues today.

This book presents a functional calculus for n-tuples of not necessarily commuting linear operators. In particular, a functional calculus for quaternionic linear operators is developed. These calculi are based on a new theory of hyperholomorphicity for functions with values in a Clifford algebra: the so-called slice monogenic functions which are carefully described in the book. In the case of functions with values in the algebra of quaternions these functions are named slice regular functions.

Operator Theory

Operator Theory by Daniel Alpay
English | PDF(True) | 2015 | 1847 Pages | ISBN : 3034806663 | 17.9 MB

A one-sentence definition of operator theory could be: The study of (linear) continuous operations between topological vector spaces, these being in general (but not exclusively) Fréchet, Banach, or Hilbert spaces (or their duals). Operator theory is thus a very wide field, with numerous facets, both applied and theoretical. There are deep connections with complex analysis, functional analysis, mathematical physics, and electrical engineering, to name a few. Fascinating new applications and directions regularly appear, such as operator spaces, free probability, and applications to Clifford analysis. In our choice of the sections, we tried to reflect this diversity. This is a dynamic ongoing project, and more sections are planned, to complete the picture. We hope you enjoy the reading, and profit from this endeavor.
