De-Phazz is a german downtempo jazz ensemble integrating modern turntablism and elements of soul, Latin, trip hop and drum and bass into a lounge music sound. De-Phazz is led by Pit Baumgartner, a german producer who has varied the lineup of artists for every new album. In the period 1997-2012 the group has released 10 studio albums and 3 "best-of" and remixes, on Mole Listening Pearls and Universal Jazz Germany along with single releases on Edel Records and United Recordings. Album after album, De-Phazz explore new musical territories adding fresh elements and offering delightful nu jazz, acid jazz, lounge, electronic experiences to the millions of their fans worldwide. Sol Gabetta is an exceptional young cellist, and this is an exceptional compilation of the work she has done in the recording studio so far in her short career. In addition to Elgar's evergreen Cello Concerto, here are also some Elgar salon works, and a couple of really worthwhile short pieces by Dvorak: Silent Woods and the Rondo. The second album is mainly given over to short encore pieces such as, inevitably, Saint-Saens's The Swan , and less obviously, Pablo Casals's beautiful reworking of a Catalan folk song, The Song of the Birds . Truly exceptional, and no cello lover should miss this.

This recording presents the double concerto for violin, cello and orchestra of the Spanish composer Francisco Coll, born in 1985. Les Plaisirs Illuminés, a title inspired by Dalí’s painting of the same name, is rooted in Spanish traditions, including flamenco, yet is resolutely modern: ‘Its music is very lively rhythmically, it dances and sings – but at the same time it is very abrupt, always in search of extremes’, says Patricia Kopatchinskaja.
