Monster TV Rap Hits is a 1989 compilation album exploring the hip-hop music of the moment. Tommy Boy Records couldn't afford to call this a product of MTV or YO! MTV Raps so they were forced to call it Monster TV Rap Hits and design the graphics so it would hopefully motivate people to think it was an MTV thing without being allowed to call it that.

Packaging-wise and title-wise, the Rhino label's Hip Hop: The Collection is as generic as they come, but after that, all complaints are minimal. Get it at the right price, and it doesn't even matter that the theme is mega-broad and that the T.I. hit isn't one everyone knows, because when a collection goes from Afrika Bambaataa's seminal electro-rap "Planet Rock… Don't Stop" to Missy Elliot's "Get Ur Freak On" with barely any filler in the middle, the freak is on and the planet is certainly rocked. The set jumps time periods at will, and yet the sequencing works, so consider it a time capsule or a portable party, because it's both.

Nowhere To Run, Nowhere To Hide is the 1994 single by a New York City rap combo who called themselves The Gravediggaz, or Gravediggaz without the "The". The group consisted of The Undertaker, who is better known as producer Prince Paul; The Rzarector, who was better known as Prince Rakeem but primarily known for the last 23 years as The RZA; The Grym Reaper, who was better known as rapper Too Poetic (or simply Poetic); and The Gatekeeper, who is better known as Fruitkwan or Frukwan, late of the group Stetsasonic. This is taken from their debut album Niggamortis, known as 6 Feet Deep in the United States due to the name being considered offensive for some buyers. This was released by Gee Street/Island.

The first edition was released in 1986 and due to its success, a second volume was released in 1988. Polydor, now Universal, didn't follow up with a new edition until 2000. The songs on the first two compilations became staples of hip-hop samples due to its placement in this series.
