Frantic modernized yet retro surf guitar instrumentals as Mozart might play today on electric guitar. Smoother and fuller guitar tones than previous version 1. Songs vary widely yet all show intense energy and motion. "I was thrilled by the first version, but the second is even more rockin’ and the guitars gallop. Everything on this album is a keeper, what a great time for fans of rockin' surf!" – Bernard Boyat, "Cry of the Coyote" CD Review magazine. They gave it a "Cry of the Heart Award" with highest rating. "Whimsical Surf Version 2 is good old-fashioned party time fun. Everything from the music to the artwork is a gas…guaranteed to put a smile on anybody's face." – SurfRockMusic.com
This is a totally traditional surf instrumental cd. If you like trad-surf, this is a must for your collection. There's not a dud tune on the whole disc. Nineteen songs, all original, all cool, all instrumental…what more could you want? ~ R.Davey

The Isotopes’ released their sixth studio album, The Isotopes Play Surf Music, in 2017. Their most focused album to-date brings the band back to doing what they’ve done best since forming in 2001, playing instrumental surf music in its many forms. They’re the Isotopes, Rochester’s premier instrumental rock band featuring gyrating go-go dancers, hilarious announcements, stage effects, nerd glasses and panty-dampening rock choreography. From traditional surf music first made famous by the likes of the Ventures and Dick Dale, to heavier rock riffs taken straight from the playbook of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, there isn’t a dry seat in the house as the Isotopes journey through an array of genres.
put this in your player and rock on the water. the genuine sound of surf, with both studio and live tracks. everything is strong and in the classic reverby or fuzzy surf style. maybe could have done without the warhorses 'walk don't run' and 'pipeline' and 'runaway', but the rest is original and of the first water and even the few oldies are done up fine if you want to hear them again…
The four-disc set Surf-Age Nuggets: Trash & Twang Instrumentals 1959-1966 plays like the flip side to Rhino's classic surf music box set Cowabunga!, and for good reason: that set's co-producer, James Austin, helmed this project, and his passion and encyclopedic knowledge of surf music from its greats to its most obscure acts is a big part of what makes this collection such a thrill. Where Cowabunga! concentrated on surf's stars, Surf-Age Nuggets digs deep; for every song by Dick Dale, there are many more by lesser-known but just as devoted acts such as the Ramrods, the Telstars, the Mosriters, and the Elite U.F.O. (!).
In modern surf music business Lorenzo Valdambrini (aka Surfer Joe) represents a strong reality, playing and organizing events worldwide. He dedicates his life to surf music with a positive attitude and a great energy, always ready for new experiences and ideas while keeping an eye on the tradition of the genre which involves the most typical reverb drenched guitar sounds and pushing drum beats inspired by jazz and rock ‘n’ roll. “Senor Surf” is the first solo release of Surfer Joe…
On this CD you get the cream of five great Surf bands. Del-Fi artists the Sentinals, the Impacts, the Centurions, the Lively Ones and Dave Myers and the Surftones. These bands were some of the best and most faithful to the instrumental Surf music genre. These guys played awesome Surf music, but were mostly not well-known! So this disc is a real find for the Surf fan who has lots of Ventures, Surfaris and Dick Dale and is looking for something a bit more pure and exotic.
