Wow, that Lauren Faggiano can siii-ing. She doesn't lock herself in a particular register, and wails salty to the cheap seats. And whether she's singing piano or forte, the lady manages both intensities on Lauren and the Good Souls' new album "Behind Closed Doors." The affair kicks off with a nice take on the Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young classic "Woodstock." The funky stuff is quick to follow, and so is that constant, easy vocalese. This is where the band doesn't distract, less they get flattened by Faggiano's rollicking barrelhouse roar on cuts like "Women Be Wise" or slow soul burners like "They Call Me Sundown." Dig her take on Linda Ronstadt's "You're No Good," too.

Disco Recharge is proud to bring you two cult albums on 1 CD from the heyday of US Disco. Tangerué was originally released in 1979 and produced by Bruce Weeden and Ed Stroman. Both were protégés of the disco legend Boris Midney. Recorded in Philadelphia for South Philly Records the album features all the hallmarks of 1979 disco - soaring strings, catchy melodies, cooing disco girls and a 4/4 beat which meant the album was an instant dance floor smash. Included on this Disco Recharge album is the 'Tangerué Medley' which was only previously available as a 12" single back in the day. The second album Strange Affair is a 1980 release which because of the 'death of disco' movement virtually disappeared off the radar. Produced again by Bruce Weeden but this time with Giuliano Salerni (of Ultimate fame) this is an absolute gem. Again recorded for South Philly Records it takes influences from Chic and Salsoul but adds it's own unique twist. As a bonus we have included the 12" version of 'Bad Connection'.

Arabian Affair is a one-off disco album by The Abdul Hassan Orchestra, lead by Dutch keyboardist Hans van Eijck, known for his work with After Tea and Tee-Set. While this orchestra was said to have featured Arab musicians and a belly dancer, they were anonymous musicians whose identities were unknown but they did have a disco hit, the title track. This was remastered and reissued in 1994 on Mercury/Phonogram.

Love Affair created a sensation with their 1968 smash hit ‘Everlasting Love’. The song topped the UK charts and the group’s lead singer Steve Ellis became a teenage idol. His powerful and emotive voice was perfectly displayed on the orchestrated single that shot him to fame. Although hailed as a pop star, he had grown up working with R&B bands and could sing everything from bluesy ballads to soulful standards. His impressive range and confident style is displayed on this excellent 15-track debut album, first released as ‘Everlasting Love’ in 1968.
