Rebel Diamonds is a greatest hits album by American rock band the Killers, released on December 8, 2023, through Island Records. It is the band's second greatest hits collection, following Direct Hits in 2013. The compilation features three original songs from the band's aborted eighth studio album – "Boy", "Your Side of Town" and "Spirit" – produced by Stuart Price and Shawn Everett. Rebel Diamonds serves as a retrospective look at the career of the rock band, offering a chronological arrangement of their hits by the year of release and a new track, "Spirit". The album title is taken from the lyrics of their song "Read My Mind" from their second album, Sam's Town.
The Killers return with their seventh studio album Pressure Machine. The album is about the small town of Nephi, Utah where Brandon Flowers spent his youth. The songs are extremely personal and cover a spectrum of emotions in connection to growing up in a rural setting. The album also includes a collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers on one track.
Imploding the Mirage is the upcoming sixth studio album by American rock band the Killers. It is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2020, by Island Records in the United States and internationally by EMI. It is the band's first album without lead guitarist Dave Keuning, who has not been touring or recording with the Killers since 2017. Guitar parts are covered by Killers bassist Mark Stoermer, producer Jonathan Rado, and a variety of guest musicians including Lindsey Buckingham (ex-Fleetwood Mac).
The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards, bass) and Dave Keuning (lead guitar, backing vocals). The official lineup of the band was completed when Mark Stoermer (bass, rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) joined in 2002. The band's name is derived from a logo on the bass drum of a fictitious band portrayed in the music video for the New Order song "Crystal". The band has released five consecutive chart-topping studio albums: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam's Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012) and Wonderful Wonderful (2017). They have also released a B-sides and rarities compilation, Sawdust (2007); a live album, Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009); a greatest-hits album, Direct Hits (2013); and a Christmas compilation, Don't Waste Your Wishes (2016). The Killers are considered one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century, and the most successful act to ever emerge from Nevada, selling more than 28 million albums.
Harking back to the days of homemade mixtapes, BBC's television program Top Gear released its own version of a road-trip album in a two-disc, 38-song compilation they call The Ultimate Driving Experience. According to the label, Family Recordings, the first disc is a selection of "recent" hits (though if the Stone Roses song "Love Spreads" from their 1994 album, Second Coming, really qualifies as recent is debatable), while the second focuses more on atmosphere (aka electronica, techno, and house music). What this basically means is that there is a disc for day and then one for night, though, perhaps because of the incessant rain in Britain and the lack of sun in the winter months, there are some songs on the first that seem to better apply to low-light situations (DJ Shadow's "You Can't Go Home Again," UNKLE's "Panic Attack," and Snow Patrol's "Run," for example).
"Update 11/11/13 – The DVD has been dropped from this deluxe edition – it is now only a single CD with the three bonus tracks.
The Killers celebrate ten years of music, with their first hits collection, appropriately titled Direct Hits. The 15-track selection includes the singles from the Las Vegas band’s four studio albums, Hot Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008) and Battle Born (2012), as well as including two new tracks Shot At The Night and Just Another Girl. A deluxe CD+DVD edition is also available which comes with three bonus tracks on the audio disc, one of which is the original demo of Mr Brightside. The DVD features a never-before-seen Killers documentary. In addition, Island Records are creating a Super Deluxe Edition which will be sold exclusively via their online store. This repeats the content of the standard CD+DVD deluxe edition, and adds a unique collection of 5 x 10? vinyl records featuring all the singles on the album. Direct Hits will be released on 11 November 2013.
