Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers was an American animated television series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. It featured the classic Disney chipmunk characters Chip 'n Dale, with three new friends, as detectives.
The concept began life as a two hour standalone television special, Rescue Rangers: To the Rescue. The series itself began airing on March 5, 1989, often paired in an hour-long show with DuckTales. The last episode aired on November 19, 1990, by which time the series was a part of the then-fledgling Disney Afternoon and continued to air for some time thereafter in its lineup until 1993.
65 episodes were created in total; the opening special To the Rescue was broken up into five half-hour segments and rebroadcast as episodes 14-18.

Haruka Kawashima has just started off her career as the first female pilot of the rescue helicopter UH-60J which she had admired since the Air Self-Defense Force (SDF) Rescue Squad saved her mother’s life. The rescue missions require severe training, allowing no space for emotion. They are requested out in the angry waters with high waves, at bold cliffs lashed by gusts and on isolated islands with heavy winds. Haruka struggles to overcome the pain of not being able to save all lives and nurture the heart and pride of a rescue helicopter pilot. That is when a fighter jet F-15J drops off the radar. Haruka and her squad rushes to the rescue of the pilot while fighting against time as they reach the fuel limit, yet engage in a life-or-death mission…
