First time on CD for two classic albums!Al Hudson & The Soul Partners originated in 70s Detroit, had an international chart hit with "You Can Do It" on becoming One Way with Alicia Myers in 1979, and continue to perform across the USA to this day. Expansion previously explored the group's earlier years at the ATCO label ("The ATCO Years" EXCDM 50) and now move on the much awaited first time ever CD reissues of the four ABC label releases across two new CDs. "Spreading Love" and "Happy Feet" were originally released in 1978 & 1979, a heyday year for the quality of soul, disco and funk grooves on those albums. Key songs include "You Can Do It", "Spread Love" and "How Do You Do", but the full body of work has stood the test of time and sounds so good again today re-mastered for the original audio tapes.

The rhythm makers, from the bronx, new york city, were brought together in 1968 by rahiem leblanc (formerly of the sons of darkness) and consisted of leblanc (vocals / guitar), keith ‘sabu’ crier (bass / vocals), kenny banks (drums / soft shoe / vocals) and herb lane (keyboards / vocals). They were signed to de-lite’s subsidiary, vigor, in 1974 to complement the label’s disco/funk roster headed up by kool and the gang. The Best of the Love Unlimited Orchestra collects 15 tracks by Barry White's groundbreaking instrumental support outfit. Their sound as assembled by White – thick layers of sweet strings, pulsing beats, chunky wah-wah guitars, plus tinkling piano and gently swelling horns – played a huge role in creating the blueprint for disco, not to mention countless porn soundtracks. In addition to backing White and his female protégées Love Unlimited, the Love Unlimited Orchestra also made their own recordings, naturally with White at the helm. Although they recorded up to 1983, their commercial heyday lasted from 1974-1977, when they charted regularly on the pop, R&B, and disco/club listings. They even scored a number one pop hit right out of the box with 1974's "Love's Theme," a watershed record in the history of disco. That's here, of course, plus the Orchestra's other chart hits: "Satin Soul," "Rhapsody in White," "Forever in Love," "My Sweet Summer Suite," "Bring It on Up," and their theme from the 1977 remake of King Kong.

Some of the artists here are ones you'll know, but are usually represented by some more obscure cuts – mixed together with a few familiar numbers that have become classics over the past few decades, thanks to strong revival in the hands of global DJs!
