As one of the foremost instrumental surf rock bands of their day, the Ventures produced what seemed like endless collections of standard tunes in their unique beachy style. Originally released in 1962, The Ventures Play Telstar is one of the band's more recognizable titles…
The Fabulous Ventures (1964). Originally issued on Dolton in 1964, The Fabulous Ventures combined six original compositions including the single "Journey to the Stars" and "Walking with Pluto," which sound like outtakes from The Ventures in Space LP released a few months earlier. Also included are six cover versions of popular songs from the era including "Needles and Pins," "The Cruel Sea," "Tall Cool One," "Only the Young," "Fugitive," and "The Pink Panther Theme." In general the Ventures' albums have stood the test of time and hold together well, especially the ones that follow a particular theme. While the playing time on this disc is only 28 minutes in length, in the case of many Ventures' albums, less is more…
The Ventures never cease to amaze me in the songs that they cover! They could take hits of the day and turn out the coolest sounding instrumental rock!…
Recorded between 1996 and 2000 (although the liner notes refer to the version of "Hawaii Five-O" having been started in the mid-'80s), this set is largely devoted to covers of instrumental hits of the late '50s and early '60s, although remakes of the Ventures' own two biggest hits ("Walk, Don't Run" and "Hawaii Five-O") are present…
Box set containing 4 jewel case CDs (TOCP-7826, TOCP-7827, TOCP-7828, TOCP-7829) and two booklets. The Ventures are an American instrumental rock band, formed in 1958 in Tacoma, Washington, by Don Wilson and Bob Bogle. While their popularity in the United States waned in the 1970s, the group remains especially revered in Japan, where they tour regularly to this day. The classic lineup of the band consisted of Wilson (rhythm guitar), Bogle (initially lead guitar, switched to bass), Nokie Edwards (initially bass, switched to lead guitar), and Mel Taylor (drums).

A special double album released to commemorate the tenth anniversary of instrumental rock kingpins the Ventures, this set includes over 20 hits that signify the year 1970 like few other albums could. Late-'60s nuggets like "Everybody's Talkin," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "MacArthur Park," "Hey Jude," "Spinning Wheely," and "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" provoke a few interesting covers from the band, though anyone the least bit familiar with the Ventures will be unsurprised at any of the songs here…
