Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra (also known as Mr. Blue Sky) is an album of re-recordings by Jeff Lynne of hits by Electric Light Orchestra. It was issued in 2012 on Frontiers simultaneously with Lynne's cover album Long Wave. Jeff Lynne told Rolling Stone magazine that the idea came from him listening to the original Electric Light Orchestra recordings, and thinking that he could produce a better result having since had a long career as a record producer. Lynne decided to re-record a number of songs from scratch, and began with "Mr. Blue Sky". He told Rolling Stone that "I enjoyed doing that a lot, and when I listened back to it and compared it to the old one, I really liked it much better." It was suggested by his manager that Lynne record a few more versions of Electric Light Orchestra songs, the results being recordings of "Evil Woman" and "Strange Magic". Lynne also liked these versions, so he continued by producing a full album of re-recordings.

Neil Young is rightly regarded as one of the most influential singer-songwriters, ranking with Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney in influence and prolificacy. And much like the other two, he has amassed an extensive archive of unpublished and unreleased songs which he’s begun to touch with his massive Archive series of box sets. Road Of Plenty is perhaps the most ambitious unofficial Neil Young release in recent memory. It is a comprehensive six disc collection of songs which have never been released (and probably never will). A majority are sourced from excellent live audience recordings (since that is the only source we have for them), but there are other excellent quality studio outtakes included as well.

Mr. Bad Guy is the first solo album from Queen singer, Freddie Mercury. Released in 1985, during a period in which Queen were on hiatus from recordings, it contains eleven songs, all written by him. It was dedicated "to my cat Jerry—also Tom, Oscar and Tiffany, and all the cat lovers across the universe—screw everybody else". For the album, Mercury compiled influences ranging from disco to dance music. It was a contrast to typical Queen work, as they were rock-orientated. The album took nearly two years to record as Mercury had to gather enough material, while committing to band activities. Initially, the album was supposed to feature duets with Mercury and Michael Jackson.

Excellent collection of classics! Every major artist of the forties thru the sixties performs on this box set. It will take a while to go through all 200 songs but what a joy and value.
The sound quality is just excellent. I have never heard these classics from the 40/50's resonate so clear and clean before, a real treat.
