"Giulio Cesare" is the most famous and popular of Handel's many operas. In fact, for a long time it was the only one surviving in the repertoire, and brilliant productions of it in the 1960s were responsible for inciting interest in other Handel operas. Giulio Cesare contains perhaps a greater variety of beautiful arias and choruses than any other Handel opera, and has one of the best plots. This 1989 recording stars contralto Martine Dupuy, very famous in France but little known in the Western hemisphere. She made a sterling reputation in Baroque opera as well as the opere serie of Rossini, in which she has been adjudged incomparable.

Andrea Marcon and La Cetra Barockorchester & Vokalensemble Basel sparkle in this new release of Handel's forgotten masterpiece Parnasso in testa, recorded shortly before their hugely successful Netherlands premiere of the opera in November 2016.

Shani Diluka releases a great project dedicated to Marcel Proust and composers he loved, to celebrate the 150-year anniversary of his birth in 2021 and the 100-year anniversary of his death in 2022. It features Reynaldo Hahn's rarely played Piano Concerto and works by Fauré, Gluck, Massenet, R. Strauss, and Debussy. The album is recorded with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris conducted by Hervé Niquet. The Proust album features Pierre Fouchenneret (violin), Natalie Dessay (soprano), and Guillaume Gallienne (narrator, from the Comédie Francaise).

It’s now time for a release with the famous German organist Helmut Walcha. This is the first of initially 4 releases with Walcha playing J. S. Bach. He recorded the complete works by J. S. Bach twice, from 1947-1950 in mono on the Schnitger organ in Cappel and in St. Jakobi in Lübeck and 1956-1971 on the famous organ in Alkmaar. This release is from the Alkmaar serie and is therefore in stereo. A quite interesting thing is to compare it with the IHORC14 release, where Fernando Germani plays the exact same organ about two years later…

Compositeur, pédagogue et joueur de basse de viole à la cour, Marin Marais haussa le jeu de la viole soliste au plus haut niveau de raffinement. Certainly the most enigmatic Stormy Six CD release, this album consist of two different albums recorded in 1976, although one content's worth, called Pinocchio Bazaar (from track 16 until 25) did not see a release until the Fonitcentra CD reissue in the mid-90's, which uses the Cliché artwork and just adds the extra tracks and Pinocchio Bazaar name. An enjoyable album that can also be used as starting point for people who wants to approach the genre.
