Frank Abagnale Jr (Leonardo DiCaprio), 15 years old, lives happily in 1963 New Rochelle, New York with his father Frank Abagnale Sr (Christopher Walken), and French mother Paula (Nathalie Baye). When a loan for Frank Sr. is denied at Chase Manhattan Bank, due to a series of IRS tax frauds by Frank Sr, the family is forced to move from their grand home to a small apartment. Paula carries on an affair with Jack (James Brolin), a friend of her husband. In the meantime, Frank poses as a substitute teacher in his French class. Shortly, Frank's parents file for divorce, and Frank, scared, runs away. When he runs out of money, he begins to use confidence scams. Frank's cons grow ever bolder and he even impersonates an airline pilot. He forges Lufthansa & Pan Am payroll checks and succeeds in stealing more than $2.8 million.

Frank Abagnale, Jr. (DiCaprio) est médecin, avocat et co-pilote pour une importante compagnie aérienne. Grâce à ses nombreux talents, il escroqua de nombreuses personnes entre 1964 et 1966 alors qu'il n'avait que 17 ans. Il devint ainsi le voleur le plus connu de toute l'histoire des Etats Unis, mais aussi l'un des plus recherché par le FBI. L'agent Hanratty (Tom Hanks), eut pour mission de capturer Franck et de le faire comparaître devant la justice, mais tâche s'avèra difficile puisqu'à chaque fois il se retrouva avec un train de retard. Mais la chasse continua…

Jimmy the Saint's business is videotaping the terminally-ill, so that they will be around to give 'Afterlife Advice' to their survivors. He hasn't been doing too well lately and has had to turn to loan-sharks to accomodate his failing business, as well as his expensive personal tastes. When an evil gangster-overlord buys up his note and demands a favor of Jimmy, in exchange for the interest that he can't afford, Jimmy capitulates. Jimmy is to scare someone for the gangster-overlord–really rough them up. Without giving too much away (spoiler), the scene goes down badly and Jimmy and his crew all end up with contracts on their heads for their trouble.
