Okko is a comic book published in a series of mini-series, or cycles, written and illustrated by Hub with colors done by Hub and Stephan Pecayo. Originally published in France by Delcourt, Archaia Studios Press started reprinting the series in English in 2006 with English translation by Edward Gauvin. Three cycles have so far been published by Archaia, the first one being The Cycle of Water the second, The Cycle of Earth and the third, the just-concluded Cycle of Air. The Cycle of Earth still follows the titular ronin, masked giant Noburo, drunken monk Noshin, and idealistic youngster Tikku. Each book's cycle dictates the nature of the story in some way, and in this cycle the foursome allow the wind to carry them to a remote town where a young girl is suffering from horrific nightmares. Okko and Noshin in particular are called upon to ease her suffering and drive away the gods that torment her. Lush, beautifully drawn and written world that hearkens back to feudal Japan. Adult content: graphic violence and nudity. Mature Readers only.
