English | PDF (True) | 2023 | 755 Pages | ISBN : 9819936829 | 7 MB

This book presents an analysis of how the economic Korean Miracle spread into the cultural “Korean Wave” (Hallyu). First only in Asian countries and then around the world, the rising popularity of the Korean Wave continued within the pandemic—despite or even because of policies of digital lockdowns. Partially, this has been by design as Korea for decades has had a very strong fast development drive in telecommunications and that aided the growth of its cultural wave. Partially however, this became exclusively by default how the Korean Wave had to spread increasingly in a digital manner after 2020 globally, in response to many countries’ rules regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in their attempts to enforce a decline in face-to-face content consumption. In retrospect, this has meant only more digital growth and innovation for the Korean Wave in past years compared to other cultures' entertainment complexes that suffered more. Korea's earlier digital readiness combined with later lockdown conditions and pushed the Korean Wave further ahead.

Millimeter-Wave Communication Systems: Network Analysis and Hybrid Precoding Design

Millimeter-Wave Communication Systems: Network Analysis and Hybrid Precoding Design by Kai Yang, Minwei Shi, Hang Yuan, Zhitong Ni
English | PDF,EPUB | 2022 | 186 Pages | ISBN : 9811696209 | 38.5 MB

This book investigates the analytical framework and hybrid precoding scheme in millimeter-wave networks. Millimeter-wave communication is a frontier technology for supporting ultra-high data rate transmissions in future wireless networks due to larger bandwidth and higher spectral efficiency. However, the involved interference characterization and increased energy consumption are two dominant limitations in millimeter-wave network evolution. In this monograph, we develop a unified analytical framework for large-scale millimeter-wave communication networks, which leads to abundant network design insights and guidelines. Under this framework, we design low-complexity hybrid precoding algorithms for millimeter-wave systems, which greatly reduce energy consumption without obvious performance degradation.

Cellular Nanoscale Sensory Wave Computing by Chagaan Baatar
English | PDF,EPUB | 2010 | 252 Pages | ISBN : 1441910107 | 38.1 MB

In this book the emerging and converging architecture of morphic cellular wave computers based on the concept of Cellular Neural/Nonlinear Network (CNN) is introduced in a practical way. The authors include descriptions of hardware architectures, software algorithms, as well as a possible new CNN cell based on memristor. The first single chip cellular wave computer- a vision system on a chip (VSoC) is also discussed.

In 1960, Dr. George Deacon ofthe National Institute ofOceanography in England organized a meeting in Easton, Maryland that summarized the state of our understanding at that time of ocean wave statistics and dynamics. It was a pivotal occasion: spectral techniques for wave measurement were beginning to be used, wave-wave interactions hadjust been discovered, and simple models for the growth of waves by wind were being developed. The meeting laid the foundation for much work that was to follow, but one could hardly have imagined the extent to which new techniques of measurement, particularly by remote sensing, new methods of calculation and computation, and new theoretical and laboratory results would, in the following twenty years, build on this base. When Gaspar Valenzuela of the V. S. Naval Research Laboratory perceived that the time was right for a second such meeting, it was natural that Sir George Deacon would be invited to serve as honorary chairman for the meeting, and the entire waves community was delighted at his acceptance. The present volume contains reviewed and edited papers given at this second meeting, held this time in Miami, Florida, May 13-20, 1981, with the generous support of the Office of Naval Research, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The semiconductor industry is a fundamental building block of the new economy, there is no area of modern life untouched by the progress of nanoelectronics. The electronic chip is becoming an ever-increasing portion of system solutions, starting initially from less than 5% in the 1970 microcomputer era, to more than 60% of the final cost of a mobile telephone, 50% of the price of a personal computer (representing nearly 100% of the functionalities) and 30% of the price of a monitor in the early 2000's.
