Whitesnake will bring together some of their hardest-hitting songs of its multi-platinum career on 'The ROCK Album', a new collection that features revisited, remixed and remastered versions of the group's best rock songs. The album is the first release in the band's 'Red, White and Blues Trilogy,' a series of fresh, new collections organized by musical themes that will include: 'Love Songs' (red), 'The ROCK Album' (white) and 'The BLUES Album' (blue). The collection features the debut of 'Always The Same,' a previously unreleased song that was recorded during the 2019 sessions for 'Flesh & Blood'.

Recorded & mixed by legendary frontman and Whitesnake founder David Coverdale with Co-Producers Michael McIntyre and Snake guitarist Reb Beach and at Hook City Studios in Reno Nevada, ‘The PURPLE Album’ draws on the songs from the three DEEP PURPLE Mark 3 and 4 studio albums featuring Coverdale. “BURN”, ”STORMBRINGER” and “COME TASTE THE BAND”.

All the tracks on THE BLUES ALBUM have been revisited, remixed, and remastered. Whitesnake’s singer-songwriter David Coverdale says, the music reflects how blues artists like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and the three Kings (Albert, B.B. and Freddie) continue to inspire him. In the album’s liner notes, he writes: “It’s hard to find the words to show how profoundly they connected with my soul. But ‘blues’ to me is a beautiful word that describes emotional expression… feelings, be it feelings of sadness, loneliness, emptiness… but, also those that express great joy, celebration and dance, sexiness and Love!!!”

In 1973 it was announced that Deep Purple - at the time, one of the biggest rock bands in the world - had a new vocalist, a young unknown singer from the north of England called David Coverdale. David wrote and recorded three studio albums with Deep Purple, all of them classics; Burn, Stormbringer & Come Taste The Band. The fiftieth anniversary of this momentous event is now celebrated with the Special Gold Edition of The PURPLE Album. Cherry picking the best tracks from Deep Purple’s Mark 3 and Mark 4 line- ups, all newly remixed and remastered for 2023, Whitesnake’s twelfth studio album features Reb Beach on guitar and Michael Devin on bass, joined by Joel Hoekstra on his first Whitesnake album, plus drummer Tommy Aldridge reappearing on a Whitesnake studio album for the first time since 1989’s Slip Of The Tongue.

The Purple Album is the 12th studio album by British hard rock band Whitesnake. The Purple Album is a tribute and a testament that proves that songwriting might be enough to make an album enjoyable but much more is needed in order to reach legendary status. In the past, Whitesnake revisited their own tracks with success but that was two decades ago when Coverdale was still at his prime. Coverdale assembled a fine cast of musicians here who can not only recreate all the instrumental parts and add in their own identity, but also contribute stellar vocals as well to help him bring these songs back to life. Thankfully, the band decided to give many of these songs a slightly different spin, so it's not a 'note for note' covers album, but a 'reimagining' so to speak.
