In the centre of historic Oxford a man lies dead in his doorway. There are no suspects, no witnesses and no sign of forced entry. Adrian Greenwood, a 42-year-old antiquarian book dealer, is dead, stabbed over 30 times in his own home in a frenzied and brutal attack. Behzad, a filmmaker from Tehran travels to a remote mountain village secretly planning to record a local ritual ceremony surrounding an old dying woman. Upon arrival, Behzad and his crew are met by Farzad, a young boy from the town who at first becomes their guide but ultimately becomes their informant on the fate of the old woman. Convincing the locals that they are archeologists looking for buried treasure, Behzad attempts to befriend them with mixed results. As the rustling wind, golden light and deep shadows of the village cast an alluring spell, the deathwatch drags on and the woman stubbornly clings to life, leaving Behzad's crew impatient. There is no walking without weather. It marks all experiences of being outdoors - for better or for worse. For writer, birdwatcher and radio producer Tim Dee, the weather is never an innocent bystander - especially the wind. In any walk that he makes - to watch birds, to record sounds, to reflect on the landscape and the natural world - the wind is an active agent. It carries birds, it buffets microphones, it brings and takes away much of what moves and shapes his life.

Note that the old US release titled Warriors of the Wind is an entirely kiddiefied version which edits the original movie heavily, thus creating an entirely different story.

Shown on Mexican television every Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) , Hasta el Viento Tiene Miedo (Even the Wind is Afraid) has long been a cult classic among Mexican horror cinephiles. Released in 1968 and written and directed by Carlos Enrique Taboada, it is also widely considered the best Mexican film of the horror genre.
