APOLLO: The ancient Greek and Roman God of music and poetry. SONS OF APOLLO: The new supergroup featuring members of Dream Theater, Mr. Big, Guns ‘N Roses, and Journey. In early 2017, rumors began circulating about a new secret project including former Dream Theater members Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian. Finally, on August 1st, the duo revealed the details to the rest of the world, introducing their new band, SONS OF APOLLO.

In the perfect extension of the meaning of the word, SKILLS is an amazing new band put together from the vision of Frontiers President and A&R director Serafino Perugino. Featuring vocalist Renan Zonta, guitarist Brad Gillis, bassist Billy Sheehan, and drummer David Huff, Skills brings together the worlds of old and new in hard rock for a timeless debut album.

METAL ALLEGIANCE principal partner Mark Menghi, the project’s original material came together from the creative minds of David Ellefson of MEGADETH, Mike Portnoy of THE WINERY DOGS,and Alex Skolnick from TESTAMENT, alongside Menghi. The four writers then reached out through their metal phone books to a diverse lineup of performers, each adding their own personal musical stamp to the collection of nine original songs.

Sons of Apollo is an American progressive metal supergroup formed in 2017 and composed of Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan, Derek Sherinian, Jeff Scott Soto and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. Portnoy, Sheehan and Sherinian had already worked together at a short-lived, live instrumental project with Tony MacAlpine. Sherinian was asking Portnoy to be a drummer in a band full-time. Portnoy agreed when he had time for it. Their debut album, Psychotic Symphony, will be produced by Portnoy and Sherinian (as "The Del Fuvio Brothers") and is expected to be released on 20 October 2017 via Inside Out Music/Sony Music.

In fact, whenever the five gentlemen who encompass Flying Colors — guitarist Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, ex-Kansas), drummer/vocalist Mike Portnoy (Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater, Transatlantic, Sons Of Apollo), keyboardist/vocalist Neal Morse (Transatlantic, ex-Spock’s Beard, and a prolific solo artist in his own right), bassist Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs, ex-Joe Satriani), and powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Casey McPherson (Alpha Rev, The Sea Within) — are able to conjoin their collective talents, the result is a sweet sonic bouillabaisse that reflects where their inherent mastery of melody intersects with top-shelf progressive musicianship.
