Jessica Williams (born March 17, 1948) is an American jazz pianist and composer. Williams was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She started on piano when she was four and was performing in her teens. She studied classical music but also performed jazz with Philly Joe Jones in Philadelphia. In 1977, Williams moved to San Francisco, where she played in various house bands for Eddie Harris, Dexter Gordon, Tony Williams, and Stan Getz. She also became the house pianist for Keystone Korner. In 1997, she began her own record label, Red and Blue Recordings. She also owns a publishing company, JJW Music, and an internet mail order business. She appeared at the 2004 and 2006 "Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festivals" at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C..

Award-winning jazz artist Pureum Jin brings together a group of up and rising female saxophonists and NYC’;s most sought-after rhythm trio for a full steam of straight-ahead jazz filled with sparkling saxophone ensemble through her new group The Empress. With Pureum herself as the leader, the group features Grammy-winning artist Lauren Sevian, rising star Erena Terakubo, and versatile saxophonist Chelsea Baratz, as the saxophone quartet is supported by Steve Ash (piano), Joey Ranieri (bass), and Pete Van Nostrand (drums). The Empress presents jazz classic standards and original tunes written and arranged by legendary Germany-based baritone saxophonist Michael Lutzeier and arrangement / rearrangements by Pureum Jin. The group’s debut album, Square One, showcases the driving force and the movement of women in jazz as well as Asian musicians in jazz scene that has developed tremendously in the recent years, and promises to captivate listeners with its rich harmonies and innovative sound throughout the album.

A nearly brassless little big band and a guitarless R&B group all at the same time, the Microscopic Septet was to the 1980s New York Downtown scene something of what the Art Ensemble of Chicago was to its own home town. Both bands were steeped in and respectful of the jazz tradition, but both deconstructed, recalibrated, juggled and played around with its component parts to create affectionate, often witty new amalgams of the old—and intimations of the future. The two-disc Seven Men In Neckties collects the Micros' immortal, mind-expanding but long unavailable, first two albums—Take The Z Train (Press Records, 1983) and the live Let's Flip! (Osmosis Records, 1985)—along with previously unissued, contemporaneous material.

A random sampling of Stories from The Years of Living Passionately could easily leave the impression that this is a hybrid of cool jazz, classical and world music. Even that broad an assumption would not be a comprehensive representation of Indian born Noshir Mody's complex, multi-layered collection of original music. A self-taught guitarist, he can invoke playing styles as diverse as Lee Ritenour, Pat Metheny or John Abercrombie yet his distinctive sound reveals no particular adherence to a form of playing or composing. Stories from The Years of Living Passionately comprises of pieces that are frequently reflective but with a force that resurfaces throughout the collection.

Having been schooled in the music of Django Reinhardt, Catherine took his playing to another level in his duo with guitarist Larry Corryell, and several albums which he made with Chet Baker constitute a major recorded legacy.
