Seattle and Brooklyn-based Jessica Lurie is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser, performing on saxophones, flute, voice, accordion and electronics. Influenced by her parent’s love of classical, jazz, broadway and Americana, combined with having come up in the diverse Seattle music scene of the ‘90s on, she calls on a wide range of musical influences, including, funk, jazz, Americana, gospel, Klezmer, Balkan, Latin, and Afro-Cuban music, as well as a great love for free improvisation.

Keyboardist Craig Taborn's Daylight Ghosts is the Minneapolis-bred New Yorker's third ECM release as a leader, a quartet album following the solo Avenging Angel and trio disc Chants. Both projects earned wide acclaim, with The Guardian saying that Taborn's "musicality and his attention to detail are hypnotic, as is his remarkable sense of compositional narrative within an improvised performance."

You could say that US saxophone man Jared Sims plays with spirt. Or perhaps, more accurately; spirits! Check out the third cut on his gorgeous new album “Change Of Address”, and let me explain…. The track is called “Ghost Guest 1979.” Six minutes and 40 seconds in duration. Like all seven cuts on the instrumental album, his fifth record as leader, Sims plays baritone sax and is joined by the very able skills of Steve Fell on guitar, Nina Ott on organ, Chris Lopes on bass and Jared Seabrook on drums.

Contemporary jazz’s most promising artist is set to release her fourth studio album. Ragan Whiteside, the flautist-singer who catches the ear like few in the world of contemporary jazz can, is getting ready to make waves this May 12th with her fourth studio album, Treblemaker. A favorite of well-known stages such as Capital Jazz, Whiteside’s sound brings to mind the stylings of Najee and Dave Valentin. The preceding album, Quantum Drive, has received major airplay and acclaim by such publications as Jazz In M.E.E., and was described as "an enchanting and vibrant album" by Hans-Bernd Hülsmann of smooth-jazz.de. As its successor, Treblemaker promises a further expanse of Whiteside’s variety and style. Frank McComb, Kim Waters, Marion Meadows, and Tom Browne make their appearances on the album to lend their touch to a well-seasoned musical mix.

UMFANG will make her debut on Ninja Tune's Technicolour imprint with “Symbolic Use Of Light” on 16th June 2017. Previously sharing her analogue-based rhythmic excursions via videogamemusic, 1080p, Phinery and Allergy Season, the New Yorker is a co-founder of Brooklyn’s colossal Discwoman crew and resident at Bossa Nova Civic Club’s Technofeminism monthly.
