When it comes to world music, there are two labels that do it better than anyone else for the common man, Rough Guides and Nascenté with their Beginner's Guide To… series. While other labels certainly do a fine job, these two companies have a way of producing their recordings to appeal to those who have or may have heard something and want to know more. This triple-disc set, Beginner's Guide to African Funk, is no exception. It is loaded with historically and culturally important recordings from across the continent and styles that, while all modern (from the late '70s forward), are rooted in much older folk traditions.

At Christmas and all through the year, there are angels among all of us who willingly share the true spirit of Christmas in gifts of kindness, service, forgiveness, and love. In December 2018, The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, and Bells on Temple Square, joined with superstar entertainer Kristin Chenoweth to celebrate these angels and all the other bounteous gifts of Christmas.

STONE THE CROWS with MAGGIE BELL on lead vocals ruled the live scene in both UK and Europe during a small but very important number of years- 1969-1972, the pivotal date was May 1972 when guitarist LESLIE HARVEY was tragically electrocuted on stage during a sound check at the Swanage Ballroom. All tracks feature Les except the last three on CD2 which were recorded after Les's death with JIMMY McCULLOUGH on guitar who left the band in 1973 when he got an offer to join WINGS. Following the bands disintegration in 1973 Maggie recorded a number of acclaimed solo albums, formed in the 80's MIDNIGHT FLYER as well as forming The BRITISH BLUES QUINTET recently. Maggie to this day is continually performing live either as a solo artist or as part if BBQ. Musicians:-Maggie Bell, Leslie Harvey, John McGuinnis, Jimmy Dewar, Colin Allen, Ronnie Leahy, Steve Thompson and Jimmy McCulloch.

Unique compilation and 100th release in the catalogue of Sonorama Records - file under: cool, modern, hard bop, modal! Fourteen previously unknown tracks recorded 1959-63 in West-Germany by some of the best European jazz artists of the time, featuring Barney Wilen, Francy Boland, Rolf Kühn, Joki Freund, Attila Zoller, Fats Sadi, Roland Kovac, Rolf Ericson, Michael Naura and countless others. All tunes picked from collectors' archives, carefully mastered for 2LP-Gatefold and Longplay Digipack-CD with new sleeve notes and artist photos by Susanne Schapowalow and Hans Harzheim. Great moments from the most prosperous period in the development of European progressive jazz.
