Here again are the boys from Chicago who brought Miles back with The Man With The Horn. Robert Irving III on keyboards took over the role that Miles had assumed with a true sense of harmony and only a rudimentary mastery of synthetic sounds and movements.

The last album of Warner's retrospective is off the beaten track. It is dedicated to Jean-Louis Duport, nowadays an underrated musician but a true cello-hero back in his time (his own cello, the Duport by Stradivarius, was played by Rostropovich for many years until his death). This album features the only existing version on record of the second concerto, and some rare duets with Xavier Gagnepain.

Never re-issued since its original LP edition in 1970, this newly remastered album reflects the deep interest Gustav Leonhardt had in Monteverdi’s music, having previously been featured on two legendary Harnoncourt recordings (L’Orfeo and The Vespers).

Pierné’s "Impromptu-caprice" was dedicated to Mrs. Provincialli-Celmer, harp teacher of Marielle Nordmann’s grandmother.
