The Mofuglys explode onto the scene with their debut album, A Murder of Crows. Conceived as the soundtrack to an animated feature film, this is the first half of a character-driven Rock Opera. One of five main characters is performed by the one and only Ike Willis, Frank Zappa's longtime lead vocal and guitarist. Guru musicians Bryan Beller (The Aristocrats, Joe Satriani,) Rick Musallam (Mike Keneally Band,) and Eric Svalgård (Project/Object, School of Rock) appear, bringing the project to a totally pro-sounding level. Over 5 years in the making, and with true love for our country, The Mofuglys present this epic tale that begs the simple question: What direction do we really want to go in 2020 AD? (Snowflake Warning: Contains samples of the worst President in the history of the United States.)

The show was recorded and filmed at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN before a sold-out audience as part of Vai’s successful Sound Theories world tour. Vai chose the State Theater to film because of its large, lush acoustics and the historical theatre’s gorgeous interior. The 2 hour and 40 minute set contains several new tracks and re-orchestrated pieces culled from his rich catalog. His guitar-wielding extravaganza in “The Murder” is an artistic performance piece that must be seen to be believed.

Brendon Small's Galaktikon is the solo album debut by Brendon Small. Known for his work on the animated television shows, Metalocalypse and Home Movies, and as creator of virtual death metal band, Dethklok. The album features Dethklok members Gene Hoglan on drums, and Bryan Beller on bass. Small described the album as a "high-stakes, intergalactic, extreme rock album" and describes it as being similar to Dethklok but with more rock elements and melodic vocals. Like both Dethklok albums, Ulrich Wild produced the album and Antonio Canobbio designed the cover art. The album's release coincided with the premiere of the fourth season of Metalocalypse.

This album contains two tributes to two other stellar guitarists. One of those is "Jiboom," which pays homage to Stevie Ray Vaughan, while "Frank" remembers Frank Zappa. Vai saw his career begin as a teenage stunt guitarist for Frank Zappa. Later, Mike Keneally performed the same role in a band backing Zappa. For this album, Keneally toured in Vai's band, but plays keyboards on the album. It is an amazing exhibition of six-string talent.
