Best-known internationally for her poised, belting rendition of the theme to Goldfinger, the 1964 entry in the James Bond series (as well as 1971's Diamonds Are Forever and 1979's Moonraker), Shirley Bassey became one of the most enduringly popular vocalists in Britain during the last half of the 20th century. Known as "Bassey the Belter" and also the "Tigress of Tiger Bay," her early career in touring shows and cabaret brought her a recording contract with Philips by the late 1950s. After reaching the top of the British charts in 1959 with "As I Love You" and later "Reach for the Stars/Climb Every Mountain," Bassey was tapped to sing the theme song to the third James Bond vehicle.

"Be My Lover" is the third studio album by R&B singer O'Bryan. It was O'Bryan's highest charting collection on the Billboard R&B Albums charts, peaking at #3. The first single - the insistent, chugging "Lovelite" - marched to the top of the Billboard R&B Singles chart. The success of "Lovelite" prompted Capitol to release "Breakin' Together" as the next single. But it was O'Bryan's penchant for ballads - the quiet storm staple "Lady I Love You;" the lovelorn "You’re Always On My Mind;" and "Go On And Cry," which was the third single - that shone as the album’s highlights. The title track also became known as one of O'Bryan's better uptempo songs.

"Everything Is Everything" is the 1st studio album by American soul artist Donny Hathaway, which was released on July 1, 1970 on the Atlantic Records' subsidiary, Atco. The album was Hathaway's first release after being signed to Atlantic in 1969. Raised in St. Louis, with religious influences, his grandmother Martha Crumwell was herself an accomplished gospel singer and guitarist. After dropping out of Howard University in 1967, Hathaway moved to Chicago, his birthplace, and started working on music for Curtis Mayfield's Curtom Records label where he was a songwriter, producer, arranger, composer, conductor and session player.
