The EVA labels were a group of sisterlabels made for compilations and Best-Of albums released as joint ventures between the national divisions of EMI, Virgin and Ariola. The label became active in 1984 but is now defunct in all countries. Early EVA albums were released with the logos of the three individual labels. Sometimes the label name EVA was not mentioned on those releases.

Something Swingin' !!! deserves those three exclamation points. Good range of featured artists aimed at novices and new fans. Very fine two-record set with an extensive cross-section from Sinatra to Andy Williams, from Ella Fitzerald to Dionne Warwick. This is worth having, regardless of your swing jazz knowledge.

Time Life's AM Gold '60s series provides a highly enjoyable history lesson. Each year is represented by songs drawn from a wide range of sources, features all very big hits all the time and plays like an hour of true golden oldies radio. As usual with the series, you'll get a pretty good idea of what was going on in the charts from this disc and would be hard-pressed to find a better single-disc collection of hits from the year.
