Nearly 40 years after their initial formation, Judas Priest were as strong a live force as they had been at their early-'80s peak. Frontman Rob Halford virtually created the archetypal metal look with his studded leather garb, and the band's ultra-clean, technophilic riffing, and fleet dual lead guitars set the standard for power metal on an arena-filling scale. This is the band's fifth live album, following 1979's glorious Unleashed in the East, 1987's disappointing Priest…Live!, and the two they recorded with Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals, and it's much closer in quality to Unleashed than any of the others.

This collection encapsulates Judas Priest's debut (ROCKA ROLLA) and a majority of their classic sophomore album (SAD WINGS OF DESTINY) for Gull Records, along with an early version of "Diamonds and Rust," and mixes them all up in the running order. Seeing as it's missing "Epitaph," "Island of Domination" and the immortal "Ripper" from SAD WINGS, this CD does not allow one to get the band's first two albums in one package. However, the ROCKA ROLLA tracks have been remixed (some fans argue that they are better) and the title track re-edited, and those changes along with the track arrangement and fantasy-inspired cover art make this package worthwhile for obsessive collectors, even though the gatefold vinyl edition was actually more visually striking…

Judas Priest is a British heavy metal band who rocked the charts in 1980 with "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking the Law".The founder members were childhood friends K.K. Downing and Ian Hill. They were approached by Al Atkins, the singer of a defunct band called Judas Priest, and he asked if they would like to form a band using the Judas Priest name. The new band toured around the local area refining their sound until it developed its characteristic heavy metal thud, and though they lost Atkins along the way they picked up Rob Halford as their new singer. By 1974 they released their debut.
