Dave Pearce is an English electronic dance music DJ whose longtime affiliation with the BBC is complemented by a deep catalog of mix albums on the Telstar TV and Ministry of Sound labels. While still a teenager, Pearce got his start as a professional DJ in the South London pirate radio station Radio Jackie. He had introduced Public Enemy during a concert at Hammersmith Odeon in London, and a recording of his introduction was later sampled for use on the opening track of Takes a Nation, Countdown to Armageddon. Better Off Alone is a song by Dutch group Alice Deejay. It was originally written and released on Canadian label ISBA Music Entertainment Inc. but was re-released by Positiva, Universal and Republic. Cafe del Mar is a song first released by the trance project Energy 52. It is named after the famous bar located in Ibiza, Islas Baleares, Spain.

Memphis was the town blues musicians passed through on their way to Chicago. But some of them stayed and the record companies sent their mobile units to record them. Over a three-year period from 1927, an astonishing amount of talent was recorded: local stars like the Memphis Jug Band, Frank Stokes, Cannon’s Jug Stompers, Jim Jackson, Furry Lewis, Robert Wilkins, Bukka White, Memphis Minnie, Joe Callicott and Sleepy John Estes.
