One of the pillars of film scoring and the most popular film composer of his era, John Williams has created music for some of the most successful motion pictures in Hollywood history – Star Wars, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter are just a handful of selections from an extensive catalog that has included over 50 Academy Awards nominations. After getting his start in television in the late '50s, Williams worked more steadily on feature films by the early '70s, impressing with his stirring orchestral scores for blockbuster disaster films like The Poseidon Adventure (1972), Earthquake (1974), and The Towering Inferno (1974), as well as through his work with such emerging directors as Robert Altman (1973's The Long Goodbye) and Steven Spielberg (1974's The Sugarland Express). His recurring partnership with Spielberg would span six decades.

This third installment in the "Diggin' Deeper: The Roots of Acid Jazz" series, which collects likely funk, jazz, soul, fusion, and disco sides from the deep Columbia/Epic/Sony catalog, includes such gems as Art Blakey's "Cubano Chant" and Lalo Schifrin's "Jaws," a Shaft-meets-Frankenstein hybrid version of the "Jaws" movie theme.
This set moves and grooves from end to end, and even listeners with little interest in the acid jazz movement that surfaced some two decades after most of these tracks were recorded will find a great little alternative dance album lurking here.

Vintage underground ’70s hard rock, coming at you from bizarre angles, local scene wasteland America when everybody was out for themselves and the drugs went bleak. The guitars kill, the attitude is twisted, even the sex is headed down the wrong road. Real people, no compromise, pure and potent. Get stoked, take the 18th Trip and know that the artists will get paid for pulverizing your soul!

Digitally remastered two CD set. Robinsongs bring you a couple of rare gems from the Contempo Vaults - Ultrafunk's 1975 and 1977 albums: Ultrafunk and Meat Heat. Although chart success eluded Ultrafunk, if you were on the club circuit in the seventies, you would have danced the night away to some of the fantastic Ultrafunk singles. The Ultrafunk self-titled album kicked off with 'Kung Fu Man' that featured the vocals of Mr. Superbad himself Freddie Mack, the face and voice of the "Superbad" compilation series. This unique package brings you the full-length album version, plus the 7" version and instrumental version as bonus tracks. Also featured on the album are 'Sting Your Jaws' Part One and Two. "Meat Heat" featured another club classic in 'Gotham City Boogie', plus 'Sunrise' from the movie Car Wash. Ultrafunk liked to put their spin on some of the great soul tracks that were around at the time, so you will find versions of Stevie Wonder's 'Living For The City' and 'I Wish', along with Bill Withers' 'Use Me' and 'Who Is He And What Is He To You'. The package also contains B sides that were not included on the original albums.
