In 1990 Neil Hannon started recording and releasing under the name The Divine Comedy. Thirty years and twelve great albums later, Hannon is rightly adjudged one of the finest singer songwriters of his generation. To celebrate, Divine Comedy Records are remastering and reissuing nine of the band's classic albums.

DISCO SESSIONS features 2 CD’s of classics from the genre. Unlike the majority of Disco compilations it also features a number of lesser known classics from the same period which helped shape the sound of the scene, together with early 80’s club floorfillers that continued to fly the flag long after Disco had become a by-word for naff stateside. The overall result is two very danceable CD’s that should help soundtrack any party you care to throw.

There was, and still is, a stunningly intricate mosaic to John Coltrane’s music. His visionary art form is a gift to the world that keeps on giving. Coltrane’s impressions created a legacy of beautifully conceptualized music to be absorbed and reimagined for generations to come. The music is timeless, thanks in large part, obviously, to the man they called Trane. But thanks as well to the talented musicians who have breathed in all that is Coltrane and absorbed the passion into their own hearts and souls.

The blues recording industry began in New York City and for most of the 1920s, musicians travelled from all parts of the country to make their mark in the recording studio. Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey were amongst the most popular female singers but they were soon rivaled by the likes of Lonnie Johnson, Robert ‘Barbecue Bob’ Hicks, Texas Alexander and Mississippi John Hurt. Kansas Joe McCoy cut ‘When The Levee Breaks’, justly famous in its Led Zeppelin incarnation, in the city.
