One of the erliest italian libraries compilation made. The compiler put together psychedelic beat and bossa tunes from albums that were pressed in very tiny quantities (Bixio diamonds is actually an exeption as it's from a soundtrack…) great photographic cover too from italian Playman magazine collection.

Off the Wall is the fifth studio album by the American singer Michael Jackson, released on August 10, 1979, by Epic Records. It was Jackson's first album released through Epic Records, and the first produced by Quincy Jones, whom he met while working on the 1978 film The Wiz. Several critics observed that Off the Wall was crafted from disco, pop, funk, R&B, soft rock and Broadway ballads. Its lyrical themes include escapism, liberation, loneliness, hedonism and romance. The album features songwriting contributions from Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Rod Temperton, Tom Bahler, and David Foster, alongside three tracks penned by Jackson himself. Off the Wall became Jackson's highest charting album on the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart and was number one on the Top Black Albums chart, staying at number one on the latter for 16 weeks. The album was an enormous critical success, with it being credited as a significant departure from Jackson's previous work for Motown and hailed as a major breakthrough for him. Off the Wall has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.

All these albums are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year! Despite that half-century separation, 1970 remains a very rich and pivotal year for rock, jazz and soul. As the Beatles were breaking up a whole new generation of artists with a new way of making music was breaking through. They were often less carefree—the advent of a darker and harder type of rock (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin) marked the beginnings of metal, while the Stooges had pre-anticipated punk by several years. In addition, 1970 brought us a unifying style of soul, notably with Curtis Mayfield's first album or Funkadelic's frenetic eponymous record. And let's not forget all of these legends, some of which are still around today: Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Deep Purple, The Who, Elton John, Rod Stewart…

This massive, ten-disc, 200-track box set covers a lot of ground. From post-punk and new wave to heavy metal and the paisley underground, the '80s were anything but dull, and Pop Years: The 80s does a nice job of conjuring up images of those old K-Tel record commercials that used to come on between Dance Fever and Solid Gold.

This 16-song set presents the hits Wonder scored after he negotiated artistic control for himself in the 1970s. It's a wondrous collection, ranging from the driving pop-funk of "Superstition" and the streetwise "Living for the City" to the sweet "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," now a pop standard. In addition to the hits, Musiquarium includes four great new songs, two of which ("Do I Do" and "That Girl") would go on to become hits soon enough. In the years since this set was originally released, Wonder's output has been spotty at best, but Musiquarium reminds us that Stevie Wonder is a giant of soul and pop. –David Cantwell

Long delayed second solo album from Miss Alesha Dixon, following her debut 'Fired Up' on Polydor, which was ultimately released only in Japan. A former member of seminal 90s UK RnB girl group Mis-Teeq, Dixon is probably better known to most as the winner of 2007's Strictly Come Dancing, and this reputation is played on in the lyrics of lead single 'The Boy Does Nothing'. On the album, Dixon is reinvented as a sassy,soulful songstress, utilizing her fine voice across a variety of genres from pop to funk and even mambo.
